!/8 scale Brushless speed control in a 10th scale?

I just bought an SC10 and I plan to pick up an SC8 in a few months. My question is..can I buy an 8th scale speed control to use in the SC10 with the 10th scale motor and upgrade to a larger motor later for the SC8. ( sorry if that ran on..it sounded right in my head:lol: )

Not a problem. The MMM is a very versatile esc. It can be used in multiple applications. Even the MM is a worthy choice for both 1/10 and 1/8.

If you can wait a few, Castle will be coming out with their Mamba Pro.

What are the improvements over the MMM? I am an occasional racer ( read once a month), Would I need the Pro?

What 10th scale motor do you suggest to use with the MMM...does it have to be a Castle? From what I hear the SC10 is easily overpowered..so I guess something on the lower end of the power band. I guess I should mention At this point I will only be using 2s lipo..is that enough power for the MMM?

Thanks for all you help:mdr:

The MMM will run fine on 2s. A medusa 50-4800 or 50-3300 would be a good choice for the SC10.

The Pro will replace IMO the current MMM and MM and for around the price of the MM. There will be an 8s and a 10s MMM later from what I understand. It will do everything that MMM will but with a hybrid mode(is that right?) that will run both sensored and sensorless. Starting in sensored then switching to s-less. I think it will also have a full sensored mode. And I heard it will have totally new software borrowed from another CC controller with some twists...? The Pro is gonna be awesome.

Awesome..thanks for all the help guys:yipi: Now I know I'll be buying the right goodies.

I don't believe that will be true. The regular MM and MMM will still have their places and it probably not be the same uses in which one would use the MM Pro. That's all I'm gonna say.

MMM HV - Higher end HV setups
MMM - Regular 8th scale
MM Pro - 3-6s / Sensored/sensorless hybrid 1/10th - 1/12th setups but not targeted at 8th scale due to lower amp rating - Though probably a good 1/8th buggy 5/6s controller
MM - 2/3s 1/10th-1/12th setups - The old favorite
Sidewinder- 2/3s lighter 1/10th setups

BL_RV0 07.04.2009 01:30 PM

Chris that's exactly right.

nitrostarter 07.04.2009 02:22 PM

Yep, the MMM will still be the choice for 1/8th scale due to the higher amp ratings. The MM Pro will be a updated version of the MM with more capabilities like sensor motor running, 6s inputs, and tuning options.

You wouldn't say the MM is a 4s controller?:intello: A 4s TC controller at least..

BrianG 07.04.2009 02:36 PM

We all know the MM will run 4s, with a UBEC, but it's not "officially" supported...

Kcaz25 07.04.2009 04:47 PM

Hard to see that happening but you guys are alot deeper into this than I am. They are going to have to change some prices up thats for sure if that is the case. I would much rather have a MM Pro than a current MMM from what I've read.

how about in a 1/18?
