Need help setting up a Genesis
Some may remember that I was trying to convert a Cen Genesis to a brushless truck. I have the driveline conversion done. I have pulled the tranny and have opted to run a locked center diff with a 66t spur gear. I am running a MMM v3 with 2200kv combo, of which I've fried two of!!! So what I need to know is what Battery setup should I run a 4s, 5s or 6s lipo? I plan to run an 11t pinion on the motor and I want to keep the stock wheel size which is 7.5. I was looking at a pair of thunder power 5000 mah 40c 2s lipos and was wondering if this would be enough to move the truck without any problems. Also should I adjust the motor timing to one. I am not concerned with insane speed, 40mph will be plenty for a truck this size. Some one please Help I don't want to cook another ESC they don't taste very good.

anyone? anyone?

I run 2 LST2 conversions with 63/18 with the CEN wheels and run 4s with out any heat issues what so ever.
Based on similiar gearing and weight of our trucks I'd say YES, 4s and a 11T pinion should be fine especially if you get the ThunderPower lipos. I have my motor timing at low(5) if you experience heat issues dropping the timing could be helpful |
does a fireball constitute as heat issues?

How much does that CEN weight fully loaded, and whats the diff ratios?
If you aim for about 35-40mph on 4s lipo you shouldnt be having any issues, unless its more than about 12lbs.. |
I'd say it probably weighs around 15lbs! I know with the nitro and all it was 17lbs. The diff is 26/9 I think.

Shoot me a PM, I can shoot you some pictures... I've made about 4 GST 7.7 Conversions.. Once you're done, It'll weigh close to 18Lbs...
If you want 40MPH, you'll have to run 6S, and 14T pinion on 1st gear Spur.. I run a 24T Pinion on mine with stock 43T spur.. |
I was hoping Aqwut would chime in, hes the resident CEN guru
15lb though, thats a hefty old truck fo sure.... |
so does anyone have any suggestions on setting up the mmm settings? Punch control, throttle curve, brakes, reverse settings. I just wanna keep this thing from going up in flames again!!!!

This is a great STARTING POINT, adjust from there concerning heat issues and driving preferences. |
Thanks now if only I could come up with the money for a good pair of lipos!!
|
Well I got my lipo. I found a max amps 6500mah 30c 4s pack on ebay. Set up the truck with my punch on 100 and brake on 25(truck does and endo when I apply the brakes should I go lower or higher with the brake number to stop this). The truck ran great, wheelies on demand, esc only went up to 115, motor went to about 110, and battery stayed around ambient temp of 80 or so. I was very please with the exception of the brake hicup. :)

Get us some pictures, and a video....:)

Reduce brake strength to prevent endos, but its only at 25% correct? Sounds like you have it set for forwards-brake-reverse (near 0 rpms); you need to change that to forwards-brake-reverse with lockout (so it will only go to reverse once you've stopped, released the throttle, then re-engage reverse).
