Which BEC do I need??

I'm trying to get this truck running right with my new NEU motor. I put my new 6s lipo 25c 5000mah pack in it with my schuze 18.97kw esc and it's not acting right at all. It seems to work better with the 4s lipo pack. The only other upgrade I've made was a
Futaba S9156 Digital High-Torque Air Servo for the steering. I'm running it with an external bec which is 5/6amps. I just read an article from schulze speaking on how the servos shouldn't demand more than the bec or something like that so it caught my attention.
With the 6s it will run normal, then just go full throttle and flip over without me hitting the throttle. I'm wondering if I am running too much for that bec to handle? 2 servos including 1 high torque which I'm sure draws a lot of current, 2 fans, esc, etc. Do you think I need a airplane bec made to handle several servos to handle this big load, or is it possibly something else that is making my truck go crazy all of a sudden? It never did this until I added this new servo and tried it with a 6s pack.

It just sounds like radio interference. I guarantee you aren't overloading the BEC. If you didn't have a digital servo in there before, that may be what's causing the interference. Try relocating the components, ie. keep the Rx as far as possible from the servo/ESC/BEC.

I did have a digital servo before just not one with as much torque as this one. I did reposition my bec... maybe it's in a bad location. I probably need to extend the power wires because they came really short. I'll give that a shot and see what happens! Thanks.

YW. Do you have a pic of the setup? It would help in determining the problem.

I'm in alabama at my family reunion and my truck is at home since it's been acting up... I can take one and post it when I get back home for sure. Till then I'll tell you I first had it mounted on the side of my esc (I know dumb) lol. It's now on the chassis where one of the battery packs sit. I just know I have far too much money in this truck for it to be flipping like a acrobat on it's own! I really need to find out specifically what the problem is because I won't be running it anymore until I do.
p.s. my other vehicles are running fine with the same remote 3pk. The last thing I can think of is that I just had to send my radio in to be serviced. The throttle reading was waaaaay of so they had to repair that for me. I keep wondering if that has anything to do with it though I highly doubt it.

Ok. Which BEC are you using?

I have a question i have the schultze and it responds to my servos, but my motor is not turning batteries are fully charged and i have a bec

You probably need to calibrate the radio to the esc- make sure the throttle trims are at neutral & the expo set to 100%. There are so many little dip-switches on those escs, try and find the instructions somewhere online and make sure its setup correctly.

Or buy a decent modern esc that doesnt self-destruct when you look at it wrong...

swiftneed 10.11.2009 04:46 PM

well as they say you buy it you burn it so i want to burn it and consider a new esc also after i burn the 125pro

I went with the instructions and believe it or not read them and pulled out the red wire from the esc to connect the bec and still no motor movement hacker HMMMMM

You know the fut.18.XXX series is only rated for 5S lipos. At the moment I don't even use my 40.160 due to it not having a LVC. There are some good choices of ESCs that will handle 6S, doesn't need a separate BEC and has all the programming one needs to play safe.

Finnster 10.11.2009 06:17 PM

Really you are best off getting a MMM. Built in BEC and LVC and all the modern stuff in a reliable package. For the $$ you have in it, another $130 for a proper esc is a no brainer.

swiftneed 10.12.2009 12:40 PM

OK I guess i will get rid of it and use the new MMM

I have two schulze and i think they are terrific.

If you are getting a lot of glitching and weird movement it is more than likely something to do with the radio setup and binding to the ESC.

The 18.97 Is not built for 6s and will not work with it. It will apparently shut down. The 18 cells they quote from the website is 18 cells under load ie 5s

I know for a fact that they do not recomend running a bec with the new schulze speedys (its in the manual) instead they prefer you run a receiver pack.
