What should I do?

Hey guys, I have a MMM V3 that is in need of non-warranty repair. Should I spend $70 and send it back to castle or get one of the refurb MMMs for $100?

JoFreak 07.25.2009 05:35 PM

If I were you, I would send it back to castle as it's cheaper and the refurbished have no on/off-switch if I recall correctly.
But if I had the money and wanted a MMM (personally I prefer Schulze ESCs, but doesn't matter in this case), I would buy an additional refurbished MMM for the times when your main-ESC is broken and with CC for repair so I could still run my truck:whistle:

Depends on your patience and your wallet! Can you wait or not? Do you have the extra to buy a refurb? Maybe buy the refurb and send the other in at a later time.

BL_RV0 07.25.2009 05:49 PM

That's what I'm thinking, Erevonut. If I do get a refurb, I hope it comes with bullets for the motor wires, rather than leads coming off of the board, my setup calls for that.

brushlessboy16 07.25.2009 07:10 PM

get a v3. why not get the latest and greatest for less money. no- brainer to me..

or do both.

hemiblas 07.25.2009 07:18 PM

How is it out of warranty repair? I dont think the V3's have been around for longer than a year?

BL_RV0 07.25.2009 07:18 PM

That's probably what I'm going to do. Only reason for not doing so is because the refurbs could only last so long before they're all gone- whereas I can get my V3 repaired any time.

BL_RV0 07.25.2009 07:20 PM

Hemiblas- It is non-warranty because the RX wires yanked off of the board, I tried to repair it, and it didn't work out, so I have to send it back... WHY OH WHY did I not just get it warranty repaired in the first place... impatient little bastard I am I guess.

I would send yours back to castle and get a refurb while you wait, it pays to have a spare ESC :)

Gee 07.26.2009 12:31 AM

If I only had enough $ to do one or the other right now. I would get a refurbished esc now for that price. If there are any left. Then when I had the money to have the other esc fixed I would send it in. Then I would have two MMM esc for 175 and some change. The non warrenty work will still be going on long after the refurbished esc have be sold.

SpEEdyBL 07.27.2009 12:22 AM

Think of it this way. You are doing other people a favor by not getting the refurb!

hemiblas 07.27.2009 08:39 PM

I wonder how much a defective controller would bring on ebay?
Maybe just buy a refurb and sell the controller online.
I'm sure these things have some value to someone that knows how to fix them.

Wild YFZ 450 07.28.2009 12:54 AM

You SHOULD learn how to solder and just solder those leads back on. I mean you already messed up with the warranty just give it another shot.. If you mess something else up no big deal... But you can always have a small chance of fixing it.... I just recently soldered RX wires back onto my MM wasn't to difficult.. Just get a nice iron and have some patience..

plettenbergs 07.28.2009 07:06 AM

i HATE refurbed anything.....re-furb to me is selling TRASH!!

BL_RV0 07.28.2009 01:36 PM

YFZ- you just dont get it do you? The middle tab is UNSOLDERABLE.
