novak 6.5 motor issue
hey guys, i am a noob to brushless. i put a used novak hv 6.5 in my emaxx. its is awesome. but the motor make a strange noise sometime and once the motor even stayed full on brake even when it was turned off. is the motor done? it still seems to work but the noise keeps coming back.

How hot does it get? If it gets to about 160 you are in danger of damaging your motor and if it gets over 200 you are probably in some trouble.
Novak motors aren't the motors of choice, especially for an emaxx. Look at Castle MMM, Tekin RX8, or Neu stuff. |
the motor is getting just over 100

The motor locks up "full brakes", doesn't sound good at all. Possibly coming apart inside. Call Novak Tech support Monday and see what they say befor running it anymore.

sounds like a bad bearing...

I think if it were mechanical (a bearing, bad rotor, etc.) it would be a constant problem. I'd check the sensor harness and make sure it's clean, and fully inserted. :oh: Has the motor ever taken a hard hit? The hall sensor array in the back may be loose, and is sending strange signals to the ESC that it can't respond to. You can remove the back of the motor (3 screws) to expose the hall sensors. Make sure the circuit board isn't loose or dirty. Blast it with compressed air if you can. Beyond that, definitely look into a more powerful setup.
