Screen Backlight for Spektrum DX7/JR XP9303 - Low Power Design

I have been developing a backlid solution for non-backlid radio system. I like to fly and drive at night because thats the only time I have for the hobby, it really annoy me that I can't see the screen in the dark and I can't understand why most transmitter doesn't have a backlid screen. I have literally spent hundred of $ and time on this project trying out many different solution and combination of parts and materials to have finally come to this result, which I must say I'm very happy with the final solution.

DX7 version power consumption is very little, 29mah for white and 35mah for blue-green.

JR XP9303 version will draw about 38mAh, still very low to have it stay on all the time. If you're using stock Spektrum 1500mAh NiMH pack, I highly recommend upgrade to a 2600mah Lipo pack you will be amaze how long it'll last backlight or no backlight.

With such low power drawn, the light can be on all the time and you will hardly notice any difference in power drawn. The light wired directly to the main switch so it'll look complete stock once installed.

I will be working on a DX2.0, DX6i, DX3S, and more radio as I come across. DX6i and DX3S use only 4x AA instead of 8x AA so i'm going to have to change my design a little bit to accomodate that issue.

I have done this mod for a few local friends and they're amazed with it. If anyone is interested in doing this on your own let me know and i can help.

Here are a few pics of my modded DX7 and JR XP9303 transmitters.

I'm doing the same for my MX-3, but I'm still looking for where I put my inverter and EL backlight.
