Brushless Setup questions for a G2R
I am building a new truck based around the G2R chassis. I am planning on running 14 cells for power. I am going to use the single speed tranny conversion kit, and the strobe slipper.
My questions are: 1. what would be better a BK Wanderer 8XL or a Lehner Basic XL2800 ? (with a 9920 controller) 2. What bore pinion does the BK take ? (1/8" ?) 3. Would a 14 tooth pinion with the 51 tooth ofna spur be right ? 4. I drove a firends emaxx with the HV-Maxx the other day, and I was really blown away by the amount of torque. Do these motors really have a noticeable amount of power over the HV-Maxx ? (if you've tried both) I prefer runtime over top speed if that helps for what I am looking for. Thanks |
1) Definately a wanderer 8XL
2)The wanderer is 5mm, and the BASIC is 1/8" 3) Don't own a revo, so couldn't comment 5)A 8XL will make an HV Maxx look like a tyco rc. |
Welcome to the forum Seaning. Maxdude is right, I agree with him in all points.
The gearing will depend on your tire choice, too. An 8XL on 14 cells should be able to pull your G2R around at 35-40mph without much problems. If you really prefer runtime over speed, some folks here had good experience with the 9XL. But a 8XL will be nice too. The Wanderer VS Lehner question, well, the Wanderer XXL will have more torque, but the Lehner would be easier on your ESC. Altough a 9920 will handle the 8XL no problem. Again, welcome here. I'm sure you will find any info here to make the build-up easy, and you will end up with an awesome RC! DAF |
Runtimes depdn ont he batt too. If u want an hour long run time, get some nice lipos!

i agree with maxxdude about the HV an 8xl will have atleast twice the power of an HV-Maxx

My buddy is eager to see one of these up with his HV-Maxx. He's pretty proud of his rig, and almost had me sold on an HV-Maxx before I got on this forum. If an 8XL will produce twice the power of the HV-Maxx I'll have to be sure to get some rope to tie the sucker down with. :027:

I have run two hv maxxes. The 8xl will does better than that. 14 51 is a good start. You could step up some if you like to a 16 or 15.
WELCOME TO THE FORUM!! |
I plan on running series 40's Moabs for the tires. Would I need to go any lower than 14 51 ?
thanks |
I think the 14 51 should be fine. I worry about the diffs. But you find out how they hold up.
