tx lipo pack over discharged ?

I totaly forget to put my radio to off all the night and now my lipo is overdischarged I try to charge it and the charger always say too much low voltage what I can do for bring it to life ?

Jason 08.09.2009 02:44 PM

anyways I charged it on nimh mode to bring up the voltage to 9v ... it was at around 6v on the lipo... now I charge it in lipo mode and will see how much capacity im going to loose

Bondonutz 08.09.2009 02:54 PM

Keep a eye on it, it might puff or worse !!

Jason 08.09.2009 04:12 PM

still take over 2600mah .. and top voltage are still 12.6v ...

brushlessboy16 08.09.2009 04:29 PM

I have discharged my tx lipo to 3v many times  it puffs and then un-puffs when I charge it..

3v... 1v per cell and it still runs fine

lucky guy, when it comes to lipos i do not take risks, im kinda paranoid about stuff like that.

emaxxnitro 08.13.2009 06:53 PM

i did that too, but its such a slow load that it never puffed. i just plugged it into my charger set it to nimh and then lipo and its fixed.
i have done this about 8 times

I have a Losi 14.8 4s 2200mah starter box battery that was discharged too much so this is very interesting. I would love to try and get this battery back in usable shape. I thought about trying this outside the house (duh)on a concrete pad but chickened out. How are you doing this? Just using a low setting for NIMH and putting some charge in it and then charging normally(lipo setting)?

Charge on NiMH @ 0.5 amps till the voltage comes up enough till the charger will acknowledge the lipo and charge on Lipo settings @ 1.0 amp closely monitoring for swelling etc. Check balance frequently and cross your fingers.
Hope you save it,not a cheap loss.

Thanks, I'm going to put the battery in a wheelbarrow with gravel in it and give it a shot. What's the worst than could happen......I'll post up the results.

No good.I've charged the battery a total of 1000mah @.5A on Nimh setting with my Ice charger. It will charge on Lipo settings @ 1A for about 30 seconds before warning that voltage is too low for the number of cells and shutting off.I don't want to push my luck and figure charging almost half the mah of the battery should be enough if it's coming back. I didn't actually pay for the battery but it was included in a trade so it still cost me something. Thanks for the help.

The voltage has to be at least 2.6 or higher per cell for the charger to reconize the lipo on the lipo charge setting.

I've got a Astro blinky and Equinox balancers and neither will fit the Losi balance plug so I need to pick a adapter up. I didn't see where the cells were voltage wise but after adding 1000mah back into the battery (a 2200mah battery)I would say it's not going to come back. I'll check it when I get an adapter for one of the balancers and go from there.

I think people are too careless with overcharged/overdischarged lipos. If it puffs or drops to a super low voltage get rid of it. Not worth risking burning down your house. The "it will never happen to me" attitude will eventually prove you wrong.
