New to e-maxx conversion
Hello guys, i just buy a 3905 e-maxx for $100.00. The truck have the traxxas center steel drive shaft on it and i want to put my MMM/2200 combo in it and run it on 5s.
I want to keep it as stock as possible. But i would like to put 1/8 buggy diffs on it, so i plan to order this bulckhead. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...LM18700&cat=47 Just want to know if, for this price, i would get both (front and rear) or the price is just for one? And please, if somebody could tell me if the tranny is solid enough for brushless power on the new 3905 e-maxx or should i upgrade it? And for the motor mount, could i keep the stock one and mount my Neu 1515 on it, or should i get a single motor mount plate? Thank you? David |
Nice find on a 3905! Good price!
Those bulkheads come Front and Rear in a package. However, you will need to buy the 1/8 scale diffs to use in there separately. The tranny should be fine. Its beefed up compared to the old 3906 tranny. It will hold up nicely to BL power. The stock motor mount works just fine. If you want, you can slap a piece of tape over the other motor hole. Otherwise run it like it is or get the single motor mount. Have fun! I'm looking for a 3905 maxx right now as well. |
No problems for the 1/8 diffs to put in the FLM bulck, i've a lot of Hyper 7 diffs here.
And for the lipo pack, i'll run a single 5000mAh, 5s, mount on the back of the tranny, just behind the rear shock tower, because my charger can't charger two pack at the same time. Thank you! |
I kept the double motor plate. It does not look as clean but I though greater surface area would be better for cooling. The tranny sould hold and with those diffs your son should be ready to play.

Well, i just see that FLM make bulckhead to kept the stock 3905 e-maxx, this one http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...0018500&cat=31
So what i'am better to do, take this one or the one i can put 1/8 buggy diffs in it??? |
1/8 BUGGY DIFFS!!!!!!
I destroyed 7 traxxas spider gears in the FLM combo bulks with alloy cups and properly shimmed diffs - have ofna 1/8 diffs now absolutely no problems you will probably need to change the outdrives on the diffs which is easy with mikes replacement outdrives I am running 6s MMM  |

For the outdrive, no problems, i'll only take the stock e-maxx axle and cut the threated part on it. That's what i did on my old revo with 1/8 difs on it. |
I've try to mount my 1515 1Y on the stock e-maxx engine plate, but i can't bolt the motor on it.
The stock titan motor have 36mm diameter, and the Neu have 42mm. So the motor hit the tranny case and i can't adjust the mesh:neutral: I'am geared with a 17T pinion on 6s |
