UE supershocks are just rebadged ofna shocks. save money and just buy front buggy shocks (same thing)

nitrostarter 08.12.2009 10:17 AM

I'm looking for Ofna's as well. I found a couple sites where the Ofna's are $20 a pair brand new.

The only real difference I know of is the UE shaft's are Ti-Nitride.

wallot 08.12.2009 10:26 AM

since 1/8 shocks hae rubber dust boots TiNitride shafts are not needed. standard steel shaft can be silky smooth with little bit of polishing. the only + of supershocks were their progressive springs.
use just 4 shocks. 8 are not needed and make tuning just more complicated

Will do. Sticking with 4.

Or needless to say, any 4 rear Truggy shocks are welcome for thought.

lincpimp 08.12.2009 10:42 AM

The maxx uses a 4" shock... So just about anything that dimension (save for a large diameter shock such as a lst shock) should fit.

Nitrostarter I hope you don't plan on doing alot of jumping (levees with Mark hehe) I've got 4 with 80wt and black rears, blue fronts and my truck bottoms out after a 10inch drop from my hands. Otherwise it handles like a champ with four and is lighter. For me running 4 shocks is a mistake.

Surely you you're not planning on running plastic bulks...

nitrostarter 08.12.2009 11:01 AM

I'm planning on all plastic unless I start breaking stuff... The diffs are my only concern, and maybe the bulks...

Kcaz25 08.12.2009 11:13 AM

Might as well run that plastic till it breaks, because it is so cheap. Thats what I did. I would watch the bay like a hawk, often times you can find a fairly well equiped Maxx for cheap.

nitrostarter 08.12.2009 11:16 AM

I'm watching as we speak!

I figure that as long as I keep it light: running 4s, LPR tires, stock plastic, 4 shocks, jangified, maybe g4 chassis, I should be ok on breakage. Less strain, less rotational mass, less overall weight.

Kcaz25 08.12.2009 11:50 AM

a 3s Maxx would be sweet! on like 3500-4500kv. It one of my dream trucks and it would consequently also be cheaper.

nitrostarter 08.12.2009 12:09 PM

I was actually looking into it. If I was going to run a 3s setup, use a 1512/1Y or 1515/1.5D. Either should easily make 35mph.
But I have a 1700kv Tekin, I'm going to run that on some lighter 4s packs and gear it for 35mph.

Should be no problem to run Mod1 with a Revo spur correct?
