MM ESC cogging badly

I bought it used and wasnt expecting this. Cogs on throttle on 55t spur 28t gearing on my mini revo. adjusted the startup power and still the same. the lipos are Hyperion G3VX 35c so there is more than enough continuous amps to provide it. swapped in my neu 1112 and same thing. its not mild cogging either. the truck looks like it cant make up its mind and shakes until it finally goes forward. any ideas before I send it to castle?

Update the firmware.

Thanks, tried that. Gave me the same results on both the 5700 and the Neu 1112. Plugged in the Quark 65a and both motors worked fine. So I guess I found the problem. It is the ESC.

I replied in your other thread already, but it looks like you have come to a conclusion already. What are the chances it is the result of a bad solder joint?

I bought the thing used from another forum from a guy claiming it was like new. I received it in bad condition. I'm starting to think he sold it to me that way. I just checked the joints and they look good. The on/off switch is missing but im sure that doesnt matter. The power wire is frayed so that might be the problem. Either way I'll pay the $45 or $50 and ship it back to Castle for a new one and just take it as a loss. Thanks for the ideas though!

Try to resolder the frayed wire. U will need at least a 40W iron for it.

Seems like u have it all sorted out.

maybe the caps are bad. I had that once with a smaller brushless esc, it cogged suddenly, I found out thet the cap had a bad solder.

Are you the guy who got a MM from xyz, or something like that?

Check the caps for melted leads if you can, sounds like that could be a possibility.

Yeah that's me. I just sent it back to Castle with the $45 for a replacement. The caps could have been a possibility though.
