I need a new Motor for race application

I am runing a hyper 9e on 6s and I need a smaller motor than the neu 1515 3d... because I want more runtime and run cooler..... I am thinking on the Mega Motor ACn22/30/2F (5mm shaft, 70A, 1770kv) for run on 6s 4000mha pacs...
it will have enough power for kill nitros and run cool?
regards

What about a Neu 1512? Or even a 1509?

jalodo56 08.30.2009 12:07 PM

i am thinking and 36mm motor because I want to use the heatskin of the Hyper 9e....

E-Revonut 08.30.2009 12:19 PM

why not just use a neu and not need the heatsink? The higher efficiency neu shouldn't require a heatsink if it's geared properly. However if you really are dead set on using it try the 1400 series neus, they are 36mm or look for a Medusa

i have a neu 1515 3d and it run hot.... i gear it for 36mph, 38mph and 47 mph and it run hot about 180ºf or more..... on 6s....
I think about the 1400 series neus, but i cant find stock and medusa can be an option....

180F!! What are you doing to the thing?! I am running a 1512/3D in a Revo on 6s and the most I typically get is 130-140F, racing it never breaks 125F.

BTW, you will not have more runtime by getting a different/smaller motor, and temps will increase going to a smaller model.

You need to provide some more information about your setup, and driving style, because I could not get anywhere NEAR 180F in my Revo IF I TRIED! Something is wrong with that picture.

My setup is an MMM + 6S LIPO TURNIGY 4000mha 20c/30c + tekno neu 1515 3d (1360kv) with 7k in the center diff, the divertrain run free.... And I gear it for 36mph, 38mph and 47 mph... it have a good job of soldering....
MMM setings:
50% brake
50% punch control
0% drag brake
high star ( with low star the temps are same)
0 timming
3.2v/cell cut off

i think your undergeared, that motor right there will run more efficient than most, i would tyr and gear it for 40-42 mph and see how your temps are, back off a little on the epa if ya have to

How quickly does it heat up? I think the motor is too much power, so it doesn't have enough of a load on it, therefore making it run very hot.

It heat up a few fast, I put the eagletree on it and give about 1600wats of peack at 63amps

but with a 19 pinion the esc go hot if I up one or 2 tooth it is going to be more hot
I think that I can use a 14 pinion with high timming
Can it help?

jalodo56 09.14.2009 12:27 PM

I am sure that the motor isn't load, I ran it with high timming and it go too hot,
Now I want to buy a new motor that run very cold
I think a few options:
Medusa 1600kv 70mm for run on 6s
Mega Motor ACn22/30/2F (5mm shaft, 70A, 1770kv) FOR RUN ON 6S
Tekin T8 buggy 1700kv for run on 6s
Tekin T8 buggy 1400kv for run on 6s

ALL FOR RUN ON A MMM
