Temp questions ??

I just took my Hyper 9E for it's maiden run out in front of my house, and everything performed perfectly.
I do however have couple questions; The motor NEU 1515 1Y geared 40/13 was 117F, the M.M.M. ESC highest temp I could get thru the cases grill was 121F. No complaints there, these temps are fantastic.
I only ran 1 pack, it was a 13 minute run. Hard excelleration, hard breaking, purposely trying to get it hot as possible and the Lipo-(Firefox 4s 25C 3700mah) was 119-122 F.
Should I be worried about this temp ? This is the highest Lipo pack temp I ever had in any of my builds so I'm maybe worrying for nothing? after all, It's 94F outside right now.

What do you guys think ?
Thank You,
Jeff

That lipo is only good for 92.5 amps so you a probably pushing it pretty good. It probably wouldnt be a bad idea to get a lipo that will do a little more amps.

What ESC are you running?

I've ran this same lipo dozens of times in a LST2 that weighs 14lbs and it never got 120F ????
This is why I'm a little befuddled because the buggy weighs 7.5lbs ?
I'm thinking I might be under geared ?

Trevor, sorry to sound like a dick or that I disbeleive you. I do realize this pack is somewhat borderline but the performance and no heat issues in a RC twice the size with no problems just makes no sense to me ? The gearing is diiferent but top speed works out about the same.

Any one else Please ???

Underloading would only affect motor temps, and if you are only cracking 120F on the lipos, with 94F ambient........ no worries.

Bash On!

Redshift,
I think I'm starting to agree, I'm worrying to much. I'm gonna test again with several other 4s packs Weds and see what happens. I at least want to drive on the clay not the asphault.

Florida is just plain ol' hot!

I was worried about my ESC temps when I was running my E-revo down there. Now I get back to MI where it's 20 degrees cooler and my motor and ESC temps both dropped by close to 20 degrees. Makes sense, but it's not something you really think about until you run in both climates. People in the cooler areas can get away with running a little hotter, higher gearing, etc. since the ambient temps are cooler to start with. Move to the North Pole and you'll be fine running 40/20 on 6s!!!

as long as the plastics don't shatter at the slightest impact:lol:

even if the ambient temp is hot, i wouldn't let your lipos get over 120F. it was 115F one day when i drive my rustler and my 5000mah 25c flightmax 3s pack puffed about 1-2mm and that was with a EZrun 3300kv 380 sized motor (the blue one with fins). i temped the battery at 124F when i had to stop running due to the motor being 190F despite stock 4" tires and 15/86 gearing:no:

the sad part is, the pack never did go back to normal, but it is staying balanced pretty well still, so i'm not too concerned.
