Series to Series? Wiring packs.

Hey guys I have a Savage Flux which as we all know has 2 deans plugs in series. I am running a pair of 2s2p (10awg wires) A123 packs.

Could I add another 1s2p pack I have, wire it in series to one of my 2s2p packs using a Y (12 awg wire) adapter and then plug into the ESC as normal to give 5s2p or doesn't it work that way?

I know the ideal solution is to build some 3s2p packs, and have the gear on it's way to do so, so this would only be a temporary (maybe 2-3 wks) solution.

Could it work, or is it asking for trouble? I realise dropping to 12awg may cause some resistance, but based on the amp draw I am getting, I don't think it'd be a markable issue, certainly when I ran lipo packs with 12awg plugs there was never an issue.

it should work. i've seen people put 3 6 cell ni-mh packs in series like that.

Ditto, nothing wrong with that or 12g wire- all my stuff has 12g wire besides the actual MMM battery & motor wires.

the new turnigy 30c 5000mah packs have 8AWG wires!! i thought 10awg was excessive. i can even get away with 14awg on my current setup on my savage. the 14awg wires will just barely warm up under hard bashing.
