my new mbx6t
 

Sold my erevo rtr and picked up the mbx6t kit. I was previously racing a converted 5t so I wanted to stay with Mugen. The build was super, super easy and relaxing. Took all my electronics from my 5t and viola, it's done. Set it up yesterday at a local high school (droop, shocks, etc.) and took it to the track today. All I can say is WOW, this baby handles on rails. I was pulling the fastest laps in my life. The truggy steers like a buggy. It flies like an arrow over our 25ft double, soaks up our rhythm sections very straight, and lands like it's on a pillow. I can't believe how easy this truggy is to drive. My friend has a losi 2.0T and that thing handles amazing, but I think the 6T has it beat,

One thing about this truck is, my esc and motor run about 30 degrees cooler. It is noticeably lighter and my diffs fluids are set-up different. Not sure what else it could be. Over-all I am super, super happy.

-Tekin rx8 2000 combo running 4s
-7955 steering servo
-slipperential
-10, 7, 3k diff set-up
-40lb front shocks, 50lb rear

I have driven: revo, losi, cen, crt, and a odonnell. I must say the Mugen is the best. I highly recommend this truck. Mugen takes it.

nice.. i was thomking about mounting my ESC there.. that servo mount comes with the motor mount? (mine should be in the mail)

Yes the servo mount comes with the motor mount. I had to drill 1 hole in the mud-guard for the post. No big deal.

looks very nice, im thinking of buying the mbx6 to move all the electrics over from my mbx5.. cant decide if i want to do that or conver my Hyper9 nitro...

I was in the same place on researching a new roller. I almost bought the rc8t, but decided I really like working on the Mugen, so I got the 6t. They are manufactured beautifully, and the build is simple (everything fits like it's supposed too), and there are no awkward angles at getting to hexes. I can't talk about the Hyper series, because I have never driven one, however I heard they are good. Still would sell the Hyper and get the 6.

so it comes with the little mounting posts as well?

yeah i have to say love the Mugen quality the hyper just isnt up to the same standard.

Its so cheap in the US too which I just cant understand... Here in the UK its £500 - $700 ish and thats comes without wheels, tyres or body wrap!! I will import one from the US if I do go that route for sure.

Updates
 

Well, did a complete tear down this winter and decided to switch to a single battery instead of the two battery set-up. Big benefit (charge times are cut in half)

Bought Mike's battery tray, moved my esc to the tray, and soldered up a new set-up. Charged my 5800 4s up and tested in my street.

Initial observations from my previous set-up:
1. The brakes are way smoother now. Not sure if it had anything to do with not having the "reverse motor profile" checked, because now my motor is mounted behind the center diff instead of infront when I was doing 2 batteries. Literally at full throttle and my brakes set at 40%, the trug slows down like warm butter. Sweet.

2. Decided to gear down 1 tooth, so now I am running 15/46 (35mph). Supper punchy, so I set my Current Limiter to 40, and the timing down to 0.

So I hit the track to time the runtime of the 4s 5800 (no pics yet, track was very, very rough after winter).

The balance is very, very nice. Flies through the air like an arrow. Lands our huge double without a thud. The Revolvers are probably hands down the best tires I have ever drove. They hook up like velco.

I ran hard throttle heavy consistent laps for 15 minutes before a tire bead blew.... I am hoping to get 16-17 minutes out of these 5800s. I have seen a lot of threads recently about runtimes... Basically the missing factor in alot of these questions are, MAKE YOUR TRUCK LIGHT AND FRICTION FREE. I can roll my truggy on the basement floor and it rolls with no resistance. Kids need to make sure NOTHING IS BINDING, your bearings are smooth, nothing is rubbing against any cvds, your diffs are perfectly shimmed and meshed. This will make the motor and esc very happy and cool, which in turn, produces longer runtimes.
