I need something to cut grass with my RC

Hi Guys,

I just finished with cutting our grass in the yard, but it's TERRIBLE work. I really hate it! I'm searching some "thing" which should cut grass, and I want to attach that "thing" to my RC car. (I will using my Rustler VXL) But my problem is that I don't know which thing I need. I already got an idea, I'll try to explain it with a paint draw:

It should look like a X frame where the motor is mounted on, and the motor is faced to the ground. On the shaft from the motor I want to mount a "thing" that will spin (by the motor) and by spinning it should cut the grass for me  Well, my main question is: Which "thing" do I need? Do you got any ideas? It should be pretty big, about 625 cm² (100 inch²). And my other question: At which RPM should the "thing" spin?

I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks,

Patrick

A rustler will not do well towing something around on grass. You really need a 4x4 to get the job done with a lot of traction and torque.

+1 how about that lst in your picture with a low gearing? I personally enjoy cutting grass:whistle:

Thing= just mount up the motor and blades from a flymo, only use a large DC motor/ BL motor instead of the AC one. A DC weedwhacker would work too, just depends how tall and dense the grass is really. +1 one the 4x4 platform though, little 2wd rustle will have enough trouble moving itself through the tall grass, let alone towing a lawnmower behinf itself..

you could always hire someone...

4X4 with gear reduction over 100:1 (think tractor pulling) might work, although grass here grows about 3/4" a day so by the end of the week it's about 4" tall. Make sure you don't use a mulching blade. I have a 6.5hp lawnmower and it bogs down in the back yard.

Jeff

Edit: I thought you were talking about a regular lawnmower.

heres your best solution. find your largest square shaped areas you can, drive a steel or cast iron pipe down in the middle. put a spool on it, or make your own. the circumfrence should be the same or a little less than the width of your pushmower. attach a rope to the spool at one end, and to the mower at the other, preferably wrapped right around the engine. ziptie down the safety bar and the push assist bar, and start it up. just let it go and it will do a spiral cutting in towards the middle. viola! set a few up so that you can quickly swap between the different poles, and then hit the rest manually in like 20 minutes!

or, if you have a ride on mower, you can use a servo to adjust the throttle, and rig up a motor and friction wheel or belt with the steering wheel to turn.

Thats not a bad idea. I have a good 1/2 acre out back that takes 2 hours to mow. A beer, a sun chai,r and a rope, some zipties on the front wheel safety thing... Just have to do the edges after I wake up.. But really that what I use the kids for. No point in being young and strong with no income if not to do chores :na:
