BEC Jumper
 

Just got my 12020 and was wondering.
Will cutting the heatshrink to get to the jumper void my warranty?
Also, do I need the gold plugs to connect my motor to the ESC or can I just solder them together?

direct solder is alwyas a more effictient/safer method. Just that if u wish to change motors, it would be a hassel.

No, it wont void the warranty, its ok to cut a bit of the wrap off.

You shouldn't need to cut the heatshrink to get to the jumper. But if you do, just don't take all of it off, and you'll be fine.

Plugs are not only convenient for changing motors, but also for motor/controller removal (for whatever reason).

on a warrior you will typically have to cut it to get to the black jumper.

For me there was no two ways about it, I had to cut it to get to either jumper. Kind of sucks, but that's the way it is.

As I have found out, plugs make it much easier to switch motor wires around if your motor is going in the wrong direction.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'll cut out part of the shrink wrap. Another question I bought a UBEC and soldered the ends to some deans plugged it into the rx and plugged the other end to a 6 cell battery and the UBEC started to get hot so I immediately unplugged the battery. I know I triple checked my wires and solder joints before plugging anything in and everything looks right. Is the UBEC supposed to get hot like that?

With the BK controllers you can program it to reverse the direction so you can go ahead and solder the wires.

No. The ubec should not get hot at all. There is something wrong!
