To those using the Tekno mount...

...how the hell did you get it on?:diablo:

So far I've put my motor in the freezer and heated the mount in the oven to 250 deg. and still can't get it on.

Before anyone asks, yes I double checked the inside diameter of the mount and no, they didn't send me the wrong one. It's the 39.5 mm mount on a smooth can 1521.

neus are 40mm.

44 or so when finned..

It should be 40mm ID. You may have a defective mount because we've never had a case where a smooth can wouldn't fit. Email us your address and any other info and we'll take it from there. Thanks.

My Neu is measuring 40.2 and the mount at 39.67

I'll email y'all Tekno, but I've already drilled out the mounting holes for the 1521 4mm holes. Is there a preferred address, or just the general contact on the site?

Hmm... It may be that the Neu is a little oversized vs. the norm. Would you mind sending us the motor too? Just use the address on our website:

Tekno RC
8680 Miralani Dr. #122
San Diego CA 92126

Thanks.

Are you calipers calibrated? Just wondering

Bondonutz 09.17.2009 09:47 PM

All you need is a BFH ?

No, and they aren't a particularly high end pair either. They have served me excellently though for all measuring on my custom parts. The two measurements also serve purpose to illustrate the difference in diameters, not particularly give calibrated measurements of the components at hand.

I could see writing that on the Neu repair order:lol:

Tekno,
Are you guys in the office? I've tried emailing twice over the last two weeks on this and not received a response. Normally it's been real quick, so I'm wondering what's up.

JThiessen 10.28.2009 09:01 PM

Probably at I-Hobby.

teknorc 10.28.2009 10:22 PM

pb4ugo,

I'm not sure we received an email from you. Did you send it to info@teknorc.com? I don't think we've received any packages from you for us to look at a possible defect. I'm still thinking that Neu has changed their spec and it may not be compatible with the 40mm mount. You can try the 42mm mount, but be sure to put a little support inside to take up the slack (tape, velcro, something firm that won't mark the surface)

pb4ugo 10.28.2009 11:47 PM

I have not sent a package, only the two emails at this point. I had my hands on another 1521 for a week and it, too, would not fit. That is the email address I used. I'll go forward the sent mail to it one more time right now.
Thanks,
Brandon

I still never got this resolved. I had it on the back shelf for a while and forgot about it:oops:

Anybody have any good ways to enlarge the bore on this mount, and keep it relatively true?

Hopefully something a little better than the dremel.

I don't have a mill or lathe. I do have a small drill press though.

JThiessen 02.23.2010 10:49 PM

Send it to Tekno. If they measure it and its "good", then they can send you a 42mm mount for your motor. You could then wrap your motor with some aluminum tape to get it snug if you want. If its bad, they'll send you a good one. Much better than trying to mill out the one you have.

Only other real option is to take it to a machine shop and they could possibly mount it to a lathe and open it up some.
