Crazy christmas cabaret... input please

Ive been assigned a really nice task!

Every year at the company where I work we have a huge x-mas party for all of our kids. And like any other company of a reasonable size we have a pretty big x-mas tree in the lobby... with alot of empty gifts underneath. However one of the gifts is not empty. Its alive! :gasp:

Inside is a standard cheap toystore car and it always ends up breaking. Its hard to be a 100$ car inside a x-mas gift when you have 10+ kids constantly chasing you around. Doing their best to push you the opposite way of where you want to go mkay!

So this year we want to do better... Personally Id try to find a cheap savage chassis of ebay, make a brushless motor mount and power it via hobbycity (radio, motor, esc & batteries).

But what would you chose?

Some of the requirements:
Highly manouverable - if we could have tank style handling it would be pretty cool.
About 8-10 miles/h (dont want the kids to get hurt).
Tough drivetrain.
Plenty of torque.
Long runtime.

Any bright ideas? :)

Pictures of last years rc gift... car is scrapped.

Neat idea!

What you really need is a battle bot minus the weapons of mass destruction and crazy armor. Doubt you could get it for $100 though.

R/C cars with tank steering would require two ESCs and a tank capable radio. Or some other mechanical means of accomplishing the same thing.

And, to keep cost and speed down, I'd just use a single really high turn brushed motor (crawler) and gear as needed with whatever voltage you want to run.

Think Id get the weapons of mass destruction with the bot for 200$?

The Blizzard looks interresting. Any experience in regards to toughness of that thing?

What about the BARBIE JEEP! Then 2 kids can play at once

The Barbie jeep will die in a matter of minutes. Not to mention that the gift is driven by a hidden adult... its alive mkay:oh:

The Blizzard is uber cool... I know what the wife should give me for x-mas. Would love to make a brushless terrain maschine out of that platform ;)

However, thers s bit of consern about the hard blizzard tracks and kiddo fingers... may not be the worlds best combo.

Any other ideas? Tough drivetrain, Sharp turning (or tank steering like the blizzard... but with soft tracks), slow but with good torque.

take some fuel tubing and make some rubber treads for it...

Any crawler that would fit the bill? Or do they all run at 2mph & have delicate drivetrains?

Whit, the Blizzard is on my "to do list". But since Im working in the reliability/liability department those tracks and kiddo figers just dont mix ;)
