schulze Future 18 Series ESC not working with Neu
Hey guys, I have 2 schulze left. An 18.129 and an 18.61. Both these escs, when hooked to a schulze motor, it does not work.. it's massive cogging, I've tried it with different cell counts and different neu motors... should I change the timing or something?.. Any input would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks.

A friend of mine observed something similar running a 11lbs MBX5T truggy with a Schulze 32.170 + Neu 1515/2Y (1100kv) and 11s1p A123. Massive cogging at start up. We pushed the car from a stand still and then the schulze could rev the motor up properly. Startup sound of the motor was terrible. Especially with fresh cells from the charger. A few minutes into the run it got better but never disapeared completely. Using less cells helped somewhat and reduced cogging at start up but top speed was compromised. Schulze mailed him he should replace every other component but the schulze to resolve his problem (we thought maybe the Schulze could not cope with the voltage drop of the A123 cells). Brakes too were unusable ... no proportional feeling although he was running the esc in car mode. He then replaced the ESC with an MGM 12545 which had no troubles at all with the same gearing (geared for 40mph). Overall he prefers the MMM which sadly is only able to be used with 6s lipo.
I run his truggy with the schulze a few tiimes. As long as the car kept rolling the schulze worked. When you had to brake the car you never knew how hard you had to pull the trigger to brake properly. The ESC might be a good choice for a 1:5 project using mechanical brakes in combination with a 2 pole Lehner. We never managed to get the schulze to work properly with his 4 pole Neu. I'm quite sure that we had no possibility to change timing with the Schulze. |
I have my Schulze 40.160 set with Med timing when I was running it in my BPP truggy with a Neu 1521 and everything worked perfectly.

Wow... I'm having this SAME problem with a brand new schulze esc. My new motor runs perfectly when its on the stand, but as soon as I sit it on the ground, COGGING like CRAZY. I switched my timing and it seems to work best with 4 and 5 on softer, but it still coggs before it can take off. Just not enough.
I wonder if the fact that its a 149/200Amp esc has anything to do with it? I was wondering if some better connectors might help. I use great planes bullet connectors right now... |

well except for DRIVE LINE issues!! the all aluminum Lighning Emaxxximum is kind of heavy!! |
