E Revo Hacker C50 11XL Setup
 

I just finished installing new diffs, center driveshafts, and greasing the boots on the cvd's.

Now it's on to the "fun" part! :yipi:

I've played around with several Medusa Motors, so now it's time for something bigger and better.

The Mod 1 gears are great in the E Revo, so let's use those. Small on the spur and big on the motor gear. The 11XL is a 1476kv motor, so we're gonna start out by gearing 22/40.

It's pretty neat how this gearing works out.

40 MPH on 4S
50 MPH on 5S
60 MPH on 6S

There's still some work to be done. The ESC connection has to be made to the Motor. Aaaah but soon the runs will come. (Kinda like after you've had too much chili and chocolate chip cookies) LOL

Here's some pics. She's a tight fit, but it does fit perfect.

Any thoughts on how it's going to perform? Temps? Is this gearing good?

Beautiful! That C50 should be PLENTY in the Erevo! Linc compared them to the Neu 1515 line, so they are powerful, quick revving 2 pole motors!
I dont see any problems with gearing, looks ideal to me! What tires are you running?

Solder up some connectors and go make some runs! Its 11pm my time and I just got through running my Emaxx in the yard and the streets. Its quite loud when you flip on the streets and it goes sliding on the lid! O well.

I purchased the ExACT same motor, Hacker C50 11 XL brand new and tried it out in my Muggy. I normally run a 1515 2.5 D on 6s in there. The Hacker geared the same warmed up much quicker and after about 3 minutes into my maiden run, I shut everything down. Not that it would have run too hot, but I found out what I wanted to know about the motor. Now using it in a Gorillamax G3R chassis on 4s with a stock 3905 transmission. Much happier there..

In your Gorillamax chassis, how do you have it geared?

I stuck with 32P gears and went with a pretty large pinion. I'm away on business until friday but will post pics of the rig when I get home as well as checking which gear I have in there. All else is stock and excuse me for not remembering the final gear ratio, I'll look it up.

My thoughts are that it's a motor with plenty of power, nice looking (bought purple aluminum accents to match throuhgout the chassis) and suitable so long as I don't heat things up. What I didn't try is changing any of the timing settings on my MMM. Not sure if it will make any difference, but worth a try.

I've wanted to try one for some time and was a little disappointed when it didn't run as cool as the NUE did, but then there's that timing issue to think of..

Hacker recommended timing for that motor is 0-5 degrees.

Adjusting the timing will lower temps a bit, and finding the sweet spot for gearing will make a big difference. I adjusted gearing on the 11xl in my lst 1 tooth at a time and found the sweet spot that lowered temps 10 deg or so. I will say that the neu design is a bit better for heavier vehicles, owning to the addl torque I am sure.

In the muggy I found that too much center diff unloading caused alot of heat in the motor (I am sure that will happen with any design motor), but temps were good with gearing for 45mph or so. I tried both a 10xl and 11xl c50 both on 6s. Both motors were used in the lst and muggy, settled with the 11xl in the muggy and the 10xl in the lst (more gearing adjustment on the lst). I ran MMM and a fp 4500 30c 6s lipo with both setups.

I did switch over to a 1521 1y in the muggy recently. Similar kv to the 11xl, and it does run cooler. I did also notice a 10 deg drop in battery temps, despite having more power across the board (no a huge difference in power, but noticeable), not sure why, but I guess the neu is more efficient? Motor temps are a bit lower with the neu, never gets over 160f. I could get the hacker about 170f, but that was with alot of stop and go, hard accel and braking constantly.

even though my hacker c50 had an issue with the rotor i still love it. i am looking at getting a 10xl now for a truggy. with that low of kv you should be great in the erevo. have fun with it.

Just for giggles, I ran my Revo with 4S and Neu 1509 2700KV on our last race day.. and it did Awesome.. it was a nice lightweight racer... Lover the hacker motors, Too bad I have a 15XL with 6.7 Gear box on it...

GB motors from hacker have 6mm shafts, IIRC... Good 10s motor for something! Just need to have the shaft turned down or get some 6mm bore pinions. Glad the 1509 worked well for you!

I have 6mm pinions on it, but the RPMS outputed are way too low... Truthfully, I'm about to try this hacker with the GB on a 1/5th scale..
