Serious T8 issue
Today while running my 8E, It began to behave erratically, almost as if it was trying to slam the motor into reverse while moving forward if I got on the throttle at all. I pulled the sensor wire out, and it ran fine. I plugged the sensor wire back in and it did it again. So obviously something is wrong in the sensor wire itself or the sensing part of the ESC. It would do this even at high speeds where the ESC should be operating in sensorless mode (right?) Anyway, right now I am running sensorless until I can figure out what is going on.

nope. I am going to try a new sensor cable first, even though this one appears fine.

Check for continuity of the individual wires
Did you check if the motor wires are hooked up correctly? Make sure you connect A to A, B to B and C to C.
PLease check your rotor, I think your magnets are loose....
I'll check the rotor, but if that was the case, then why would it only do it when the sensor cable is hooked up?
because the sensor measures the magnets rotate....if hter loose you get improper signal.
how can I tell if they are loose?

Could the hall effect sensors in the motor be screwed up? Everyone has mentioned the sensor cable and ESC, but no one mentioned the sensors themselves.
It could be anything related to the sensors. Sensors, cable, rotor, esc.
The RX8 has a sensor checker feature as does the RS. With the car on in nuetral, spin the motor slowly by hand and wacth the last 3 led's. They will cycle on and off dimmly showing you if the 3 sensors are working...if one or more don't switch on and off as you turn the motor you have something going on. |
