8ight T Front CV slipping
I just got done setting up a new 8ight T roller 1.0. I got it off ebay. I'm having trouble with the Front CV slipping at the drive cup under power. Under power it pops out slips and then goes back into place. Everything looks right from the drive cup out to the wheel. It is almost like the front driveshafts should be about 1-1.5mm longer. Not sure what to make of this, anybody have any ideas? Never had this problem with any of my other 1/8 scales.
NIB? strange I never had issues w/ any of my race rollers... that being said, if it's too short it's too short. If you didn't want to replace w/ another 1.0, the 2.0 center cvd's are slightly longer but still fit from my understanding. I have not tried this, but the length difference btw the two is minimal.
It was new but not NIB. New without the box. I just compared driveshaft lengths with the rear. They all seem to be the same. The front diff seems good without opening it up. All my other 1/8 scalers, the driveshafts go a good 2mm further in the drive cups. So I'm kind of stumped. I can reduce the droop, but it still is riding right there on the edge. I may have to try what you suggest.

Can you get any pics of the drive cups?

The left side as you look at the picture is side that has slipped. It is slightly worse off.
I am curious if everyone else's truggy is close to the edge like this. My 8ight buggy is definately not. It's drive lines go further into the drive cups. |
My drive shafts are atleast 2mm farther in. maybe they messed up and accidently the wrong part # there at the factory ? i would just disasemble the hub, cvd assembly, and possibly the diff to make sure every thing was assembled correctly. i cant believe losi would do something like this.
Yeah, that's definitley not right. They also look to have a purpleish hue to them (but maybe thats just the image quality). If they do, Losi's are normally black - maybe they got swapped out???
On edit: Now I'm second guessing my color claim...anyone else confirm or deny? |
Interesting.
Since I got it off ebay without being NIB anything could could be the case. Does anyone have a driveshaft laying around they could measure? How do measure a driveline? Pin to pin? I suppose it could even be the wrong A arms. |
I just checked the color. It must have been the camara because they are black on the car.
Are the 2.0 A arms wider then the 1.0? I'm starting to think that it may have the the wrong front arms on it.The more I look the more I notice that the front end is wider then the back end.
Is there any chance the CVDs are the right length and the diff outdrives are too short?
Now for something completely obvious....are the inner bearings in the hub?
I got a 8 t 1.0 NIB from Amain and it was the exact same way. Your arms are the 1.0 arms.
I just checked mine, and with the front unloaded (lifting the tires off the ground), my pins sit about the diameter of a pin in further than yours do. With it fully compressed, the pins are just past the halfway point in the slot.
The my shafts are about 13cm from pin to tip (+\- approx. 1\2-1 mm) and my shafts work just as JThiessen described above. and yes according to losi the 2.0 arms are supposed to be a couple millimeters longer than the 1.0. they also look slightly different
