Hobbywing ss esc/supersimple esc LVC?
 

Well instead of spending $100+ on a mamba 2200kv or hobbywing,i have heard of people suing the supersimple esc at hobbycity,now known as the hobbywing ss series 90-100a,and i will use mech brakes.The only thing turning me off from buying it,is that the LVC is 2.9V...a bit risky.So i am wondering if i can set the LVC higher,something like 3.2V?

i have the 90-100a version and there is no way to change to cutoff voltage. when i used mine, i just carried my battery checker thing and checked it every 2-3 minutes after the first 15 minutes of running. the thing i dislike most about the hobbyking escs is the soft startup. it starts slow for about a second, and THEN kicks into high gear. also, the first trigger pulls will be extra sensitive as the esc calibrates itself to the radio automatically. so, the first few jabs of throttle will be very harsh and uncontrollable (i did these off the ground to simplify this) and after that, you still have to deal with the soft start, but other than that, no complaints. that esc is tough as nails. i abused the crap out of it and i could only heat it to 150F tops with no fan and it lasted until i physically damaged it in my rustler. (note to self, never leave an esc or battery unsecured in any rc car.)

You get what you pay for... Why not try the 75amp hobbywing and conservative gearing.... Only 75 bucks for that esc, and it seems to be well liked.

Yeh hmmm maybe its not worth it ,checking the battery volts like you mentioned scartletboa.I might just opt for the ezrun 150a esc.Where can i get it for cheapest? Ebay is $120(including shipping to australia.)

i think rc-monster has it for only $100, and that is WITH rc-monster's great service, so you know the shipping will be quick.

Ok,inlcuding shipping is 127,do they offer a refund or warratee if they esc breaks/fries?

i think hobbywing has a 1yr warranty for that esc. customer service is kinda hard to get ahold of. once you get past that, replacements shouldn't be hard to get.

Ok just one last question before i decide what esc to get.With the hobbywing ss 90-100esc you mentioned it starts slow.Does that mean everytime you take your finger off the throttle,and when you apply throttle again it is like a 1 second delay,or does it only happen every now and then?Does it get annoying,or do you get use to it?

the hobbyking 90-100esc works fine as a spare. you get used to the slow startup after a while. it only does it if the motor stops spinning. it got really annoying for me because my non-locked transmission allowed the motor to stop almost instantly. this made controlling the truck in mid-air difficult. if your transmission is locked, or you have a flux transmission, or any setup that gets rid of the one way bearing, it shouldn't be much of a problem. just be sure to program the brakes so they don't engage. there is a link to the website to use when programming in the reviews. for <$30, you really can't go wrong. the esc is rated for up to 7s (some have tried 8s) and 6s lipo won't put the esc at too much risk, unlike the MMM or Tekin ESCs.

Instead of starting a new thread i will post here.I am about to buy the mamba 2200kv motor,though it is the e-revo one.Is it the exact same as the flux motor,so it will clamp into the flux mounts?Also the flux motor has a heat sinksand the e-revo one doesn't will that be fine,or will i need to buy a heat sink?

the e-revo motor will not fit the savage flux mount. you can use a kershaw designs mount though. it is only $20 on kershawdesigns.com. you have to look in the motor mount section to find it.

Scroll down the the Liposhield. That one has been modded to cut off at 3.3v/cell. For $20 it's worth it IMO.

if the chassis plates are meant for a savage x, get the 550 x mount. if your chassis plates are meant for the pre-x savages, get the 550 mount.

edit: if you have aftermarket plates, if they are symmetrical on both sides, get the pre-x mount. if each side is a little different, get the x mount

Ok i have recieved most parts apart from the motor and ezrun1 50a esc,and motor mount.Pics will follow once complete.

Does the ezrun bec work fine ?Will I need an external bec to power my steering servoi?

Will i need to break in the battery as such,(turning 5s 5000mah)like driving slow etc?

Can i connect the failsafe/will i need it?

I have a turnigy 5s 5000mah lipo,can i charge at 10a,or do i have to charge at 1c (5A) ?

I also need help with the charger/how to charge a battery.I have the charger and power supply in my pics.My question is how do i connect the power supply to the charger?
The charger has a positive and negative female 4mm bullet conector which the the battery connects to.It also has two of the plier connector things(positve and negative),which i think connect to the powersupply,its just that need to modify the connectors somehow to fit right?Also how would i go about charging with a car?
