3.3 Revo gearing
I've spent some time BrianG's calculator and researching the forum and I'm having difficultys figureing out a pinion gear for my set up. The calc doesn't have a CD gearing, is it the same as the standard second gear ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated ! What I'm working with; Revo 3.3 w/RCM mount Novak HV Pro 6.5 3400kv TRX center diff (ratio ?, Revo second gear standard ???) Stock 38T spur Stock diff ratios 37/13 4s 30C packs 5.5" LRP tires I've read where some guys are using 19-20T pinions but with 2200kv Catsle motors so I don't want to guess where I need to be be with such a drastic difference in Kv's. THANK YOU, J |
Is it a silly question to ask - have you counted the teeth on the cd? That would be your spur wouldn't it? I've never had a revo so I'm assuming it doesn't have a gear box as such.
EDIT: I just had a look at a revo, sorry bondo I have no idea what I'm talking about |
No problem, I think I have it figured out anyway.
I called a Hobby shop about 50 miles away from home to talk to a guy who Lives, Eats and Breaths Revos and he was a big help. With his help I think I'm on the right track. If I have any more problems I'll post back. Wished I called him befor posting ? |
Center diff and direct drive should have the same tooth count so that they mesh in the trans housing. If you're locking the truck in second and running the standard gear ratio, you'd pick second standard. If you're using the close or wide ratio, you'll have to choose appropriately, obviously. The only gear ratio changes available for the trans are the close and wide set, which replace the input cluster gear and one of the 2 speed gears. CD and FOC have the same ratio.

yes it's the same tooth count, i had a nitro revo a while back to tye me over till i built the E-revo.

Guess I should have added a bit more. The CD, FOC and standard forward gears are all the same ratios. So the Revo transmission with CD, FOC or forward and reverse will have the same ratio with the exception of the standard, narrow or wide gear sets, which as I mentioned above, have no effect on the CD, FOC or standard foward gears. Regardless of the CD, FOC or forward gears, you'd choose 2nd standard if you're using the standard ratio gear set or narrow or wide if you happen to be using those gearsets.

I'll post some pics later today. |
Look forward to seeing it! My conversion took another direction, so I'm basically just building a hopped up E-Revo now, but I love seeing the conversions people churn out.
