Finally a solution
 

I have long hated the body post mounts on top of the shock towers. It seems to be one of the major reasons you bend shocks and break shock towers when you end-over-end (which I do alot). Since I have an RC Solutions cage on my G-Maxx chassis, I bought some body posts from Cen racing (MX-309), and bolted them to the roll-cage. This allows me to move them closer to center (more protected by geometry) and remove the body posts from the shock towers (so now they only hold the shocks). This works out great, and I may get aluminum shock towers now that I shouldn't be bending them. This is really nice since I have a new body I am painting up, and I can punch only those holes in the new body.

That's an expensive way to prevent it from happening again. You could just practice a lot to prevent doing your end over end tumbles lol.

I never had any problems with my posts on my gmaxx or supermaxx.

I do e-o-es because I like to. I have broken many shock towers and bent many shocks. I have been running RPM shock towers, but I finally ordered FLM towers last night since I won't be breaking them any more (barring a strong crash to the a-arm). I love this cage, and I only bash this thing (and I really bash it). I am going to MMM next week, so I'll really be crashing it now. WooHoo!

The flm 6061 Shocktower will bend the billet 7075 UE knuckleheads are alot stronger and about the same cost.

LOL! I bash harder with my stock t-maxx I would of hit that jump full throttle @ 40 mph and cleared that trailer you were standing next too. Definatly would of blown all the shocks and most likely the arms but hey they are cheap and need to be replaced anyway lol.

I watched the vid. I'n not being mean here- i'm just saying- you should learn to drive better and correct the truck in flight to be able to land jumps.

When you go brushless you're crashes will be ten times more destructive. The vid was "lame" by RCM standards, but we all started somewhere.

You've got a nice rig going and I'm anxious to see more vids (hopefully with improved driving:lol:)

I agree with Harold. Practice, practice, and more practice. Having the cage is a false sense of security and prevents you from really improving your driving skills. I was forced to learn how to control my trucks mid-flight in order to prevent breaking any parts since I don't use a roll cage. But then again, I have a gmaxx that is pretty much hard to break :):).

Another vote to more practice, we all start somewhere. The cage is extra weight which means whatever you hit you will hit with more energy and increases the odds and severity of breakage so I have never bothered with them.

Here was my first time jumping my Muggy, notice just how bad I was at it. After breaking quite a few parts but continuing to practice I can fly it quite well despite my binary throttle finger (I suck at throttle control and tend to jab it to full throttle whenever I can).

Obviously I am new to surface RC. I bought this because when I am on the ground due to weather, I have something to do. I don't care about crashing, that is what this is for. I don't care about racing, but I will get better at it. jumping on a BMX track is different than jumping a narrow ramp (although I'm sure many on this forum are much better at it than I am). A few of us here at Skydive Chicago are getting the RC buggies and trucks, so we may bobcat out a track on our 270 acre estate. I see how throttle control works in the air, and that is pretty cool. My goal was to build a truck that is very hard to break. I did it. I just wish I would have started with parts instead of an RTR e-maxx, I basically wasted $380 on the initial purchase. My fault for rushing into it instead of researching great forums like this one. I didn't plan to go brushless, but since the nitro buggies are so much faster, I have to keep up with the jones'. Run times also suck with electric (stock,anyway). I am going with dual 5s 3600 packs with my MMM2200 combo. The truck is heavy (12.6 lbs running weight). I am going to make some webbing battery holders as well, as I have already broken the gorilla straps. The truck will shed about 1/2 lb with the brushless setup (as even the 5s 3600 packs are lighter than my NiMh 4500 7 cell packs). I love the cage, and don't see bashing without it.

Honestly I think the current setup (Titans ) is just going to be hard to jump much better. Not having power there to punch the thr and correct means its pretty much going to fly like a dodo.

Basically it looks like you are WOT (slow as it is) and just hoping for the best. Being able to jump higher means you have more time to correct as well. I only really learned to fly a truck once I got on the track and was able to really launch it 15ft in the air and have a couple secs to think and work out the flight adjustments. Now its much easier when I bash off even small jumps.

The cage looks nice. I'm thinking about one for my Savage as the lack of good supports really trashes bodies even on wrecks and roll overs. Would prolly stick w/ plastic towers tho.
