Finished my 3.3 convert, Finially.
I sold all the smokey stuff early this year and finially got around to doin' this thing.
Don't hate me but I had the HV 6.5 NIB in the parts bin for over a year, might as well use it ? TRX CD, TRX Front & rear Brakes, 38/11 should top out at roughly 43mph. Maybe a bit much but I have more pinions to tinker with. I want to hopefully run without the fan but it stays for now. JR-9000T/JR-DS8411 Brake,RCM mount- Thanks Mike !, Home made battery tray and ESC mount both are feather lite. Center CVDs, Titanium pins and push rods, RPM everything. Looking forward to running and testing at the track Saturday weather permitting ?? Raining a lot but we finially have a break in the heat, should have a high of 73 Saturday :yipi: http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...A160002_01.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/PA160001.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/PA160002.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/PA160003.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/PA160006.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/PA160007.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...z/PA160005.jpg |
Nice Conversion Bondo! I like it.
There's nothing wrong with the Novak setups IMO. I've owned a couple and they both proved themselves to be very reliable. In fact, I still have a HV4400 setup. Have even been tempted to try the HV4400 with the Mamba Max Pro that I have on the way. Do you know if the old style HV4400 can be upgraded with the 5mm shaft/rotor? I'll have to check into that. What Lipo is that? A 4S 5K 20C? Is there a LVC in there? Also, Did you lock the tranny in 2nd gear? Mechanical Brakes? Hmmm...........Wanna race my E Revo? It's a 4S setup too. |
Whaz up Sikes, Thanks for the compliments Pal.
I always had great luck with the older HV's, I bought the Pro and the motor was toasted in a matter of a few runs. I sent it back to Novak and they replaced it, It sat in the parts ben for over ayear till I decide wtf,why not. Yes the older ones can be upgraded to the 5mm shaft. Lipo- Zippy 4s 30C, no LVC in the battery ? I even have the LVC off on the ESC because they reported probs with them shutting down prematurely. Yeah, mechanical brakes. The only thing I miss from the Nitro's. I really wanted them due to this revo being strictly for track sessions. I think It'll help me be a lil' faster. Center Diff. Hell ya I'll race ya !! The Novak is considerably less punchy then the M.M.M., again my reasoning for the track application because our tracks are noteably dry and dusty most times. |
Got to the track and it was really wet except the front stretch and a few turns. I had enough drivable track to do some temp tests and dial in the biased brakes (work awesome, I'm gonna like this set up) Temps were well within check, but I couldn't run it hard enough to really get some heat into it. So far so good, Hope to test more maybe Sunday ?

Nice job! Good to see people still doing conversions.
Yeah, your going to want to get an LVC for that. No, they dont come on the batteries! That looks like the HV-Pro version? Yes, I've seen them shut down prematurely. I wonder if one could buy the seperate LVC and wire that in? I've had good luck with the old LVC they had. |
Thanks JT,
My retort was to Sikes question that I didn't quit understand. "What Lipo is that? A 4S 5K 20C? Is there a LVC in there?" It may be daring but I never use the LVC on any of my 12 trucks, soon as the punch drops off I stop driving. Never had a issue w/any packs this way. |
wow another convert!
getting rare these days. nice neat built bondo  |
nice job on the conversion.i'm currently trying to finish my conversion.hope to have some pics on here soon but not quite sure how.

Photobucket seems to be the easiest way. Download pics form PC to PB account, CLick on "Manage Attachments" and copy/paste "image url"into the written post box. |

Almost forgot, nice job Bondo. Given that you have both the revo and the lst2, which handles better? Or should I say, which is more fun? |

Hmmm ? The LST2 can climb better(Battery up front) and Jump higher with better landings(giant shocks). The Revo definitely handles better even with out sway bars, With everything RPM on the Revo the revo is more durable,I only have issues with diffs. Just wasted a RR diff set up with metal diff cup. Kinds sucks but getting ready to do a LST diff install and that should cure the problem ? The LST is much easier to work on, diff access is nice . The Revo sucks to work on,(diff access is a F*cker) thankfully doesn't happen to often. Hope that helps ? |
Yeah that helps. I read some revo owners were impressed with the handling of the lst2 but I couldn't work that out as the revo is lighter.....must be there driving skill
Anyway I just bash so i preffer a car that's easy to work on, call me lazy :whip: |
The Revo has a MUCH lower CG with the dual battery packs on the sides.
Yes the LST2 handles very well for the huge truck that it is, but the REVO is better . |
hey really nice revo what kind of wheels are those?
|
Look like Proline Wabash's
