A few motor Question's

First up Hi, i've been looking at converting my MBX5-T and found my way over here from another forum, you where mentioned on a UK site as having a good sauce of info :intello:.

Now, i don't know a great deal B/L and lipo's, so bear with me .

Now its not for racing, but if i like it that much and my local club let me race B/L,then i may convert my 6T :mdr:

I'm struggling to choose a motor and ESC combo.

I've been looking at these
Tekin combo

CC Monster combo Now i'm not sure on this as i read about MMM and this one is the MM .

The other combo i am looking at is the standard motor and ESC that comes in the caster F8-T, i think its a hobby wing ESC ? and i'm not sure what the motor is,if anyone has some input on this, then that would be great :yipi:

ESC http://casterracingusa.com/product.p...8&cat=5&page=1
Motor

I'm not sure how good the caster stuff is,so not sure if its worth a look at.

I'm also looking at running 4 cell battery's and around 5000 amp, does that sound about right :mdr:.

Cheers Ross

sounds good, cant go wrong with castle or tekin combos. Hobbywing ESC is pretty good, but motor is crap. It can handle a truggy, but wont be even close to neu or tekin in therms of efficiency.

and if you decide for the hobbywing, take a look at hobbycity website.

Thanks.
I have read a little on the Tekin combo on here, there seams to be a problem with the rotors on the motor, does anyone know if these are ok now ?.

Also i've read on UK forums that some of the CC ESC can go up in flames,is that correct.

keep in mind people will post a topic probably when something has gone bad. i bet many people have bought the combo and have had no issues (i did). And these people wont open a topic here saying my motor works great. Don't bother, both are awesome.

Yeah very true. Just a quick one,if i'm to go for a lower Kv rating

will that give me more torque,if so will i lose a lot of top speed.

The Tekin rotors apparently did have problems at first, but all are fine now.

Any ESC can go up in flames if run incorrectly, or maybe just a bad component.

Ok,what about the Kv,if i lower it,does it affect top speed,i don't need fast top end, looking at what other people have geared truggys for racing, i would say around 40mph.

If you are getting the RX8 and Tekin motor combo, you can run sensored and use a lower kv motor than normal; just gear up a little. Shoot for ~28-30rpm. If using a non-sensored setup, I would shoot for ~35k rpm.

The RX8 is the combo that i like the look of most, so yeah it probably will be this one. Sorry, another noob question, why can i run a lower Kv if its sensored .

Because at low speeds, a sensorless setup has a harder time to determine rotor position. In a sensored system, there are actual sensors to do that so there is much less chance of cogging.

Are, I see. I will go for next lower Kv rating i think then, and gear for the 40ish MPH top end.
