Medusa Endbell Question
I have a new medusa 36-60-2000 , do i need to do the Brian endbell mod? Were there alot of endbells poping off?
|
The endbells are press-fit and some kind of adhesive is used. I had a 36-50 endbell start to pop off, but when I took it apart I found that there wasn't enough material to put even the smallest screws in. The 80mm motor had a lot more area to use screws, not sure how much there is on the 60. Anyway, on my 50mm motor, I cleaned off all the old adhesive and used JBWeld. Hasven't had a problem since, but haven't run it much since then either.

I have a couple of Medusa 3650 motors. I might just JB Weld the outside around the edge. They're not coming off...yet...I'd rather avoid that if possible.
Brian - do you think "thick" CA glue would help? |
CA glue generally works by chemically bonding polymers (plastics) together, sorta melting them in a way. Metal doesn't work that way. I would remove the endbell, clean off all adhesive, scuff up the mating surfaces, and then JBWeld it back together.
