Old Friend Kyosho ST-RR

I have been wheeling my Losi truggy lately but I decided to update my old Kyosho ST-RR and get it back in racing condition. I added a brand new MMM with a custom mounting plate that uses the existing holes in the chassis and a Traxxas bracket. I added an EliteRC cnc sliding motor mount and Tekno Neu 1515 motor. I was using a Losi battery tray but I cracked it so I went back to my original custom carbon fiber tray that is lighter and lower. Added some RVM progressive springs, RR wide spur gear and HB hard diff gears.

Looks good. I like the ESC mount you have there!

Yeah I was testing it in the street and I didn't want to shred my new AKA's.

Very nice setup. Always had big love for those kyosho st-rrs.
What's the purpose of the bigger spur, couldn't you just get a smaller pinion?

I am just taking a wild guess, and am assuming the 'wide' spur gear, means it's wider so that the whole pinion is contacting all of the spur in a sense.... not sure quite how else to word that -lol- As in - it doesnt have a larger diameter - just width... kinda like looking at the tyres on the back of a lamborghini and a little fiat panda... the "wide" spur gear is like a lambo's rear tyres - is that correct??

Looks great tho man - love that motor mount...

You got it, the spur is wider so there is more material in contact between the pinion and spur. This spreads out the contact patch and lowers the wear and gives you a much stronger setup. I have actually had an instance where the motor came loose and moved away from the spur, normally this would cause some damage to the spur/pinion as the gear mesh was lost and would grind off some material, but with the wide spur there was no damage to either the spur or pinion.
