problem today while running....need ideas as to cause..
Running my mbx-5T w/a ccneu mmm combo on 5s. Using 80% of throttle on radio, 40 punch control, low start power, stock spur 16T pinion
I was running in the street, grass today doing a few small wheelies, speed runs, nothing to harsh and all of the sudden after 10 mins. the truck acted as if it had a slipper clutch and it was slipping. It was very noticeable on start-up and if I gave it full throttle. Took the center diff out and the truck rolls free forward and backwards with no binding. Neither the spur or the pinion are stripped..Motor spins free w/ pinion on and does not bind. So I am thinking it is the center diff.... |
Check the rear diff, and all of the cvds.
|
Well...upon further inspection, the conical gear and bevel gear are toast....2 teeth broke on the bevel gear and proceeded to round many on the conical gear... OH the tribulations of BL power!
|
Was it the rear diff?

Thanks for the help! |
Well..update..repaired rear diff and re-shimmed. front and center diffs are fine. So ran it today and it still feels like it has a slipper clutch and the clutch is to loose. Under light acceleration, no probs., under hard..it seems to slip...
So, I am thinking something is wrong w/the motor.:diablo: Let me switch motors and see what happens. Well, I switched motors and dropped in my 1512 1.5YF to see what would happen...ran like a top so it is definitely the motor. |
Magnet is broken loose on the rotor inside the motor. It sounds like its turning the motor, but its really just spinning the magnet on the motor shaft.
|
having that problem now with my castle motor shaft came right apart from magnet. So upset.
|
my brand new KB motor did the same thing yesterday:cry:
what is the best way to re-bond the shaft to the magnet? i know the castle motors can just be sent in, but my KB motor has no warranty. |
I've heard green Loctite mentioned a bunch of times...
|
I have a hobbywing motor that just did that. I just put it back together using jb weld, should hold.
