I'm the unluckyest LST owner of the world...
I finally fixed the LST after it layed down in the corner a few weeks. So I went to the nearest track here, it's a track witch is actually made for 1:8 nitros, and most of them driving 1:8 nitros. So I thought I'm gonna pwn their nitro's even I got a huge monster truck.
I didn't drive ONE single round and a shaft in the driveaxle was broken. I got this thing for about a year now, and didn't drive ONE single battery through it. It always had some issues. I will list them: - Hexes + Wheels stripped -> bought 14mm aluminium hexes, works fine - Shaft in an axle broke -> bought new one - Shaft in one of the middle axle broke -> bought new one - Diff had some issues, had to get out the shims (only the rear one, front one was fine. Strange?) -> Also bought alu diff cups, works fine now -> And today I broke the third shaft if an axle (It's the thrid one because they're all the same, just on different places) - Stock body is crap -> have to buy a new one soon, even I didn't drive more than 10000 mAh through it. Ok, so I didn't drive more than 10.000mAh through this car, and I had all these problems. I don't drive like an idiot, and I took the whole car apart, cleaned it and build it together again. (Bought it used) I've read that the LST is an awesome basher... Do I have bad luck or what? :diablo: My setup is a Quark Airmaster 125B, Plettenberg Bigmaxximum and a Flightmax 5000mAh 30C LiPo. These electronics are AMAZING! I love them! But the car really dissappoints me. It's btw an LST1. Today it was the first time in my life that I thought about selling the car and buy a Ofna E-buggy and pwn the nitro's. I'm really disappointed today... What should I do? Sell this thing and get a Ofna, or do I just have amazing bad luck? (I've read so many times a LST is such an amazing strong basher, but as you see, mine isn't) EDIT: After I didn't drive one single round with the LST, I took the Rustler VXL. (This car is so amazing, I got it 2 years, always ran awesome) And also with that one, I didn't end up driving one single round. I'm so disappointed... |
Wow, sounds like the sort of continual "lemon" issues that I have with my Slash.

Shiz happens dude, don't get discouraged because of a few small problems. I've worked all week on a truck befor to get it ready for the weekend and break it in 2 minutes
Shiz happens ! It's just one of those things that happens in this hobby, wrenching, driving, breaking, improving, breaking, wrenching, fixing, breaking, improving breaking on and on. It's the natural order of the hobby. No car, truck is bullet proof. The axles are one of the weak points of the original LST, It was fine when nitro because of the soft bottom end of fuel motors, with BL and the instant snap is hard on ANY cvd's. Maybe consider loosening the slipper a tick, should help. If you want to add some stronger parts to your truck you can swap the arms, carriers, axles over to the LST2 drivetrain,it's a option that will increase durability. Stick with it and be patient ! |
Yeah, I agree that shiz happens, but it is nice to be able to go out and run the vehicle for a little while without something going wrong. After all, you spend $500+ on something, it would be nice to use it. In my case, the Slash is problematic like that. My other cars are pretty solid.

The things which broke three times are these: http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB3505 and these are from the LST2. They look the same, but are different, or just got a different part number. http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB3523 I probably can't just buy the one for the LST2 and put them in my LST1, right? If I want those for the LST2 I have to buy the axles + driveshafts for a LST2 also, right? |
this is what happens to traxxas vehicles
beef up one part, another weak part shows up, you just have to work your way through the driveline and beef it up all the way back to the motor. |

I bought all the parts for one of my LST's on Ebay from 1 seller for $74.00 delivered, If your pateint it can happen. Look at this link of a completed listing, see how cheap this stuff can be had for ? http://cgi.ebay.com/Team-Losi-XXL-Re...item56363b8b16 |
Pat my man, sorry to hear/read all this, I knew you were exited to go to the tracks. I think that us hitting the tracks this week isn't gonna happen?
You know what, maybe I'll let you drive my Savvy Flux for some laps ;). Talk to ya soon. Oyeah, as for the Rustler, buy some RPM arms and be done with it. I have some spare Rustler arms left in cause you want to drive in the mean time. |

- Buy all those things at that eBay store. (They always list new items) - Make a new motor mount from 7075 aluminium. Is 1/4 inch good enough do you guys think? - Make a new cool battery tray for it. The one I got now is crap I'll go sleep now, this day was too frustating... Thanks for the help! EDIT: @Nard, yes, I was damn excited, but I had very bad luck I think. Well, I would like to drive your Flux, but I think I will break something. |
I think the lst2 axle assembly will help you tremendously. They are much beefier. What wheels/tires are you running on it, maybe that is adding some extra stress. I never really felt comfy running big ol 40 series an heavy tires. I have dropped down to some regular mt mulchers and am much happier with how it drives.

Go to tdracingrc.com. He makes a bomber motor mount and a lot of other parts for conversions, all top notch.
|
See posts #5,#6,#7,#13 and others for Dude mount approval, I honestly don't know if he delivers across the pond ?

I know his stuff. I got his 2-speed 5mm for my LST.
The motormount from him looks good, but it won't fit an Bigmaxx and I think it's a bit overprised. I use the stock LST1 wheels/tyres. @Bondo, If I buy those HD axles, I also need the LST2 hexes right? The LST1 hexes won't fit I think... |

If it doesn't fit a Bigmaxx you should email him and ask, he might be able to accomodate ? If you can make HD mount yourself as mentioned in a prior post of yours,do it ! Save some $$ LST2 17mm hubs http://cgi.ebay.com/LOSI-LOSB3516-WH...item3ef4b31c62 20mm hubs, stock LST2 http://cgi.ebay.com/Team-Losi-LST-XX...item4a9ba96dd6 23mm hub that will fit LST2 http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CEN-GST-7-7-...item4838024b91 |
