baja brakes on a xxl savage?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with adding disc brakes from a baja to a savage? I am working on a beast of a brushless project and esc brakes simply won't do.

We would like to see the "Beast of a BL project"

Sorry no clue about the brakes question.

I've been gathering the "nuts and bolts" of the project along with some CAD work. But here is what the heart of this 8WD "beast" will consist of.

4 1527 1.5d 5mm shaft neus (still trying to hunt down 2 more, the motor to the far right is all wrong. it is a 1.5 y with a 8mm shaft) mounted with flux motor mounts

4 MMM V3 escs
Attachment 7900

Do you have a mental condition that makes you need that much power?

kiss your diffs goodbye!

WOW, I gotta see this ! :surprised:

Keep us posted.

(4) 1527 1.5d's are NOT within reason

Hey FBE, what voltage you plan on running, What packs ETC ?

Curious to the layout of the drivetrain for 4 BL motors ??

I was actually just at the hobby store and was looking at the 5B on the counter to see what parts I could possibly use off it. Unfortunatley, I didn't look at the brakes at all. I did kinda snoop around the rear diff to see if one could use those in a 4WD application - but unless you were to build a bulkhead for it, it can't be mounted upside down. Steering components looked like a possiblity though.

Edit:: BTW, HOLY S#*$($! "Beast" is not an appropriate noun to use for what your looking at doing......

Thank you guys for the input and enthusiasm:lol:. I will probably end up using this brake set or these with some modded aluminum hubs and axle carriers.

I am not sure if I want to use a123s or lipos. I want to keep it at around 6s.
I will be using an E-maxx aluminum flm tranny case and gmaxx single speed conversion with a set of ultramaxxed Gen III metal gears. And yes an upgrade to the diffs is a must.

Bondonutz 10.28.2009 08:24 AM

So safe to say this prodject is based on a Emaxx chassis/running gear ?

A LOT of upgrades will be nessasary then, have you considered a LST2 platform with a center diff or installing the FLM trans ?
