SlowKrawl's Flux

Well I don't have too much to show just yet, however parts have started showing up so I figured I'd take some pics of it. I got my extended drive cups, aluminum big bore shocks and RPM arms in the mail today. I am still waiting for:

Extended TVP's
Hyperion 720I charger
30A PS
Bulletproof diffs

I also have to figure out a body for this thing, maybe a normal savage body will work. Hopefully, I'd like to do another f-250 body. Or just keep the gnarly zip-tied together one I have haha.

Onto the pics:
I took some pics of the nitro diff gears, because I am kind of surprised how good of shape they are in. I was also farting around with the close-up mode on the camera.

New big bores:

Aaaand I took a pic of the state my workbench is in. It was semi-clean till the savage came apart, now there is just shit everywhere! Ah well, it's a workbench not a shelf for "pretty rc's".

I forgot to take pics of the RPM arms and how I had to trim them just like freeze did. Maybe tomorrow night when I tear into it again I will get some more pics of the "evil" ford body too.

LOL, for anyone who notices, yes those are tin-foil wrapped wheels under the bench. Waiting to bake the tires off the screwed wheels.

Bondonutz 10.26.2009 10:36 PM

Nice pics, close up works well.
I have baked hundred of tires and never used tin foil ? Why ?
The shock bodies look like hard anodized aluminum to me ?

I was just always told to use tin foil? lol. Always assumed it kept the smell from stinking up the oven.

Sooo, this is where I admit I am an idiot a SECOND time..The shock bodies are alum. Just that the first one I looked at had a "swirl" in the anodizing like some plastics do when they colour it.

Whats up with the extended diff cups?

No no, extended drive cups. Should widen the truck about 1".

Also, I noticed I must have twisted a dog bone! The "pins" don't line up when looked at lengthways.

A few more things came in within the past week, my 1offrc TVP's finally showed up, I got my PS from feather merchant RC and also picked up a used DX3S from a guy at the LHS. I grabbed a couple pics of the RPM arms vs. the stockers, RPM looks much cleaner on there. I figured I would take a few pics of the evil f-250 too haha.
TVP's. I am REALLY impressed with the colour Janeth came up with for me. I told her what I was looking for, she did 3 different sample colours for me to choose from and this is what we ended up with.

Power Supply, I want to either paint this thing or decal it till I can't see how ugly it is haha.

DX3S, it will be the first radio I have ever owned other than stock radio's. I think I was about due for an upgrade haha.

Stock arms vs. RPM.

RPM and extended drive cups.

And then there's the f-250 body. She has been through a lot LOL. If I hadn't have popped random holes through the windshield for airflow, I think I would still use this body with the extended chassis.

Hey, check out my thread. I found an issue with Janeth's TVP's. At least make sure you check your bulkhead attachments.

Hmm, I am HOPING your issue was just a one time thing, however I will have to throw the truck half together to see if I have the same issue. Thanks for the heads up, even if it wasn't what I really wanted to hear lol.

That's because they have not been "properly run" w/BL power!

Not pickin up what your layin down...?

magman 10.31.2009 10:24 PM

Quite a few diffs get ruined when the vehicle gets converted over to BL due to the fact the the diffs. are not shimmed correctly. Under nitro power they will hold out for some time, but, under BL power, they don't last long. Especially going from a 2hp motor to a 3 + hp BL motor. This just happened to me on my Mugen mbx-5T

No no, this is my FLUX lol. No nitro for this guy. The stock diffs imploded themselves so I went to nitro gears with an added shim. I just thought they would have a little more wear on them is all. I took a look at the pinion and it has quite a bit more wear but would have held out for quite a bit longer. We will see if I can kill the bulletproof diffs or not, but I doubt it haha.

Its kinda strange - the new TVP's fit fine with the stock bulks, and the FLM bulks fit perfect with the stock TVP's.
The stock bulks don't have that contoured pocket that the TVP fits into, so that is probably why I saw the problem. Her TVP is different than the stockers in that area - but you dont see the issue with stock bulks.

Janeth already responded to me, and she's going to work with me on it.
