A fall day in Colorado
Woke up to this,
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...OCT2009004.jpg And it is going to snow all day! |
Well, that's great if you can play hookie from work/school to go snowmobiling/skiing/etc, but not so good if you have to drive in it. If CO is anything like here, the first snow is the worst; people seem to have forgotten how to drive in the stuff and drive stupidly. Takes a few accidents for them to realize that snow is slippery yet again this year.

I work from home, so I can't call my boss and say "I won't be able to make it in" but the kids have a snow day today!!
Ya people do forget how to drive |
Isn't that weird? I can see if people moved from a warmer climate, but most have lived in this type of climate all their life. I think half my gray hair comes from winter driving wondering if the retard behind me is gonna climb into my trunk. I can't even count how many times I don't take off when the light turns green because I know some idiot will be sliding through the intersection. And interestingly enough, it's usually the 4WD trucks that are the worst. They may take off better, but they stop just as fast as any other vehicle- 2wd or 4wd. I personally love to drive in it, as long as no one else is on the road.

Some people never just go play around driving in the snow in a safe place to learn. So when they loose traction tail gating you on the way to work they 1. Shit their pants! 2. Stand on the break peddle 3. Lock the steering wheel. 4. Close eyes before impact.

I am an insurance adjuster, and I can’t believe some of the claims I get. I actually work a claim where a 19 year old kid ran his car into a tree because he said the GPS told him to turn (right into a tree).

4WD/=4W Stop CO is always awesome too as it will be 70F+ in the next few days so the snow will melt away. Wearing shorts in Jan FTW. |
We have already had a few nights that were -20C with snow, then it warmed up again. Probably snow again within the next week. Alberta FTL.

I about died laughing from that one... I'm not sure about the "forgetting how to drive" being limited to snow. Seems like people forget how to drive period. Just the other day I was following some guy on the freeway going 40mph when the rest of traffic was blazing by at 80. When I got over and drove off I looked over and I swear he hadn't a clue what was going on. :sarcastic: |

Ah yes another winter is upon us. Oh the joy..
Some shots from the blizzard of Feb 2007, central/northern NY. BTW I am the E-brake GOD... |
^^^ Pretty good too. I was in NY in 2003 when there was that one Jan. where we had 3 storms back to back that was over 20" (26" was the max.) I got snow shovels, my brushed E-maxx w/ 14cell GP3300, the trusty showercap and built a big snow ramp for the Maxx. I thought I was so awesome doing 28mph and getting 6ft of air. LOL
One of the few times that truck didn't break, on account of landing in snow drifts. The irony was I was living less than 5mi away from Barnstormers where we do the RC-Monster Bash and I had no idea it even existed. Had I only known.... @Snowman: Where do you live? My brother got ~28" at his house in Centennial. |
