Deciding on new motors for my truggy.

I was running the MMM 2200 combo on my 8ightT with great success. It was very consistent low temps and made me very happy. But since I have sold the 8t and bought a Xray xt8. Only reason was b/c my buddy wanted a truggy and I have a buy/sell addiction. I have a new 8ight buggy with the 44mm mount tekno kit on the way. So I was thinking of running the MMM 2200 kv set-up in the buggy and buying a used Neu 1515 2.5D Smooth Brushless Motor and MMM for the truggy.

Now the Neu should be more efficient with lower temps on 5s and 6s with higher torque correct??

I know the 2200 is not ideal for buggy but I am no racer by any means. I may go to the track every once and a while and that is just for fun.

The neu is a good deal but maybe I should just get the MMM 2650kv for the buggy and call it a day. I dunno....never owned a neu. I havent brought myself to pay thier prices.

I can't afford Neus either. IMO the CC Neus are nearly just as good. I don't ever see the need for more torque in a truggy than what the MMM makes on 4s. Runtimes will increase if you run lower kv and higher voltage but that's mostly a concern for racers to ensure they finish the main. I think a 2650kv on 3s in the buggy would be plenty fast, have decent runtime and not get hot. If you want more speed you can use 4s on it though it will be a current hog then. Many run the 2200kv in buggies. They don't need that much torque but they work well...just need to control your trigger

Depends on where you drive. I've driven a few buggys with the CC 2200 on 4S and on true off-road tracks I thought they worked fine and really liked the torque for rythmn sections and big jumps. At indoor tracks the CC 2200 has a lot of motor drag off-power and does not turn as well on tighter tracks.

Both of my current 1/8 vehicles (8B & 8T) have the Tekin systems with truggy motors. The 8B a 2000kv on 4S, and 8T a 1700kv on 5S. I really like them and so far everyone that's driven them really rave about the sensored motor smoothness and consistency. However, both motors have had the rotors go bad, but both were replaced at no cost, and one ESC went bad. It too was replaced, but I had to send it in.
