Why are Deans Silver Plated?

Any body has an idea why Deans plates their female conductors with silver? Gold on male but silver on female.

All my GENUINE female Deans on my Lipo packs TURNED DARK after just one month or two of use. I got really tired of keep replacing the connectors :diablo: so I switched to Chinese clone versions and they are great, last MUCH LONGER.. I usally stay away from cloned products but this time.

I've wondered that too. Makes no sense as you generally don't mix metals when dealing with electricity, especially at the current levels these are meant for.
