A123 Lifepo4 advice please
Well after much thought I think I will be going the A123 route with my brushless 8ight B.I have small children and really don't want to take the chances with lipo in this stage of my life.I also live in Canada so there will be long storage times.I would like some advice on if this setup will work allright or if I should find a better alternative.
I have a Tekno 8b 2.0 roller which I was thinking of running a Tekin RX8 2650 combo powered by 4s2p a123.My track is pretty tight so I don't really need tons of speed, will this setup be to heavy?is that the right Kv for those packs.I figure I will make 2 flat packs and stack them in parallel which will give me 4600 mah at 13.2 volts.Any thoughts or reccomendations are greatly appreciated. |
Check out the LiFe packs at hobbycity. They are better suited for rc use then the round celled a123s. There are a couple threads on them.
They look like lipos, but they won't blow up on you if you abuse them. The chemistry is pretty inert. |
I think that's the way to go for me,are they the same as A123?Thanks for the help by the way.

Same chemistry, same cell voltages and capacity, just a different form factor ( prismatic packs rather than metal cylinders essentially). Your initial suggested setup sounds fine, just use a suitable charger (LiFe capable/ 3.6-3.7v fully charged per cell) and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the reply Neil.I think I will have to go with the 2650 kv.
