I have started this thread on the Traxxas forum in May, 2008.
I wanted to share it with you, enlightened members of RC-Monster forum !! Here is the original thread : http://monster.traxxas.com/showthread.php?t=419028 And here are the latest pics I took today : http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060404B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060403B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060405B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060408B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060412B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060415B.jpg Face to face with my E-Revo : http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060393B.jpg And my vids : http://www.youtube.com/user/123456saucisse I will update this thread as I'm used to doing it on the Traxxas forum ! |
great to see you here, I follow your thread on traxxas forum. also your thread has influenced my e-maxx build and purchases. also love your vid's.
|
stock diffs? get some 1/8's in there.
|
Thanks Ron E  Do you have a build thread somewhere ?
_paralyzed_ : I use a 4s setup so the diffs hold out  I think I replaced them both only twice since I have bought my maxx. But sure, if I had been on 6s I would have used FLM hybrid bulks + 1/8' diffs  |
Nice Vids!!
I have replaced my diffs only once, FLM Hybrids rule:yipi: |
Don't tempt me ! :diablo::lol:

Just a Merry Christmas

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070120B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070068B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070073B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070129B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070131B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070082B.jpg What's new ? : - UE diff (6 spyders) with black anodized cases - UE Monoblock black anodized - Proline Ford F-650 body - IMEX Swamp Dawg tires - Turnigy 4500mAh 3S2P 30C LiFePo4 packs - and some minor mods... I made an Excel file in which I listed all the parts needed to build this maxx (screw by screw, bearing by bearing, washer by washer...), where to buy them and how much they cost. PM me with your mail if you want it. I will post lots of pics of the 6s build tonight  It's time to test it now !! |
wow, looks great...
i'd like a copy of your build sheet. wouldn't mind some new vid's also... about to take a break with my 5th scales now and get back to my e-maxx's. I think a flm chassis might be next. love your truck, great build. |
Thanks Ron
These little maxxs are great :mdr: You can't go wrong with a FLM chassis ! I hope my file will help you. I will make a vid asap ! ________ "Some" build pics ! The first step was to anodize some parts in black to match my color theme. It's 1offRC (http://1offrc.com/) which did it, they made a great job and their service is excellent ! http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...AP1060664B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...BP1060819B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...AP1060660B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x...BP1060814B.jpg The Monoblock didn't fit well the FLM 3905 chassis, I've had to dremel a bit the 4 bottom screws (chassis braces side) of the Mono and the rear notches of the chassis : http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060654B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060837B.jpg |
I needed a longer center rear dogbone, the UE "DogBone for Monoblock with the Thunder or Lightning Chassis" fits but it's a tad shorter IMO. The O'Donnell dogbone is longer but I use the UE one which seems stronger. I will test both though if needed.
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060729B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060888B.jpg I replaced the FLM drive cups with the Traxxas Drive Cups Inner Revo (5153R) which are longer. And I use HPI rubber O-rings to secure the dogbones. Second step was the assembly of the UE diffs. As I use the stock driveshafts (I will use the Summit ones if the stock ones don't hold out 6s), I needed to replace the UE output drive cups (on top of the pic) by Traxxas stub axles (I cut the threaded part) : http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060677B.jpg I use Ofna diff oil (7k front & 5k rear), Acer Racing bearings and Gorilla Snawt (for ring and pinion gears). And voilą ! : http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060826B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060833B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060871B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060878B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060890B.jpg It was really long to shim them, I hope I did it correctly  |
Some minor mods :
- IMEX Swamp Dawg tires vs Proline Mashers : http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060541B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060542B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060543B.jpg These tires are really more hard than the Masher ones, so hard that I couldn't turn them inside out to tape them ! We'll see if they hold out with my new 6s setup ! - I added protections (to flatten the bottom of my maxx and to hide the silver color of the ti skids) and chassis braces (to reinforce the chassis - I know it's pretty useless but I like the idea  ): Before http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060653B.jpg After http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060652B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060724B.jpg http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1060886B.jpg |
The last parcel I received was the LiFePo4 packs.
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x.../P1070063B.jpg I charged the packs, they were well balanced. I will use a 65/22 FGR for the 1st test. |
