charger feedback, buying tomorrow

looking to get a charger tomorrow. I am interseted in two chargers. The hyperion 720i and this new one by dynamite, it is called the dynamite passport ultra. I will most likely be charging 4s 5000 hyperion packs. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Also most of my charging will be done with 110 house pwr. kinda why I like the ultra because it does ac/dc.

definitely hyperion.

Yep, I'd go for the Hyperion 720i as well. It can do more cells, at a higher charge rate and has 2.5x the charging power (250W vs 100W).

Get a decent power supply (I know it's more expense), and you'll have a set-up that won't need to be changed for years. Not only that, Hyperion chargers have update-able firmware, and are better known (so more advice - if needed - is available).

Hyperion (or Icharger)

hmm, I really liked the dynamite being able to do dc/ac and have removable cords and all that. Plus it is another 80 bucks for a pwr supply. Which probably 90% of my charging will be done using 100pwr. So the hyperion will be able to charge must faster that the dynamite?

Certainly, about 3 times faster if your lipos are capable of supporting a high charge rate (5c for example). The dynamite doesnt look that bad really- its cheaper than the hyperion 606i that has the same overall spec but is limited to 50watts vs 100watts on the dynamite.

Hyperion has better support and more users to advice on setting it up, but the manual for the Dynamite should be pretty straight forward and all the normal settings will be identical ( select lipo, set cell count, set charge rate, hit the start button ) pretty much, so it shouldnt require terribly much thought to make it work for you.

Personal preference...

the dynamite will get you by, the hyperion will get you by and then some.

many have bought lesser chargers and later regretted it, I haven't seen anyone disappointed with the hyperion yet

Yeah, that 50w limit is a killer, and most chargers that can run on 120v AC are limited to around 50w.

What they said. Here is a good power supply that can run a few 720i chargers:

I have 2 of them (1 as a backup, or run both if I feel like using the full 860 watts of charger power I have - 4 hyperion chargers).

I actually bought 1 from him, and got the other off ebay for 22 bucks. You do need to jumper 2 of the pins to get it to produce 12v, but that is pretty easy to do.
