Are there such things as better then stock shocks i/e hop-up shocks and springs.

Nope.. unless you happen to have the shocks w/ the plastics and silver shafts... then the factory or hop up would be aluminim top and bottoms w/ TiN shafts. Nothing more is needed.. I've raced my buggy and truggy for two years now w/o issues.
