Shocks upgrade RC8Te
Hi there,
I'm currently running AE plastic shocks on mine RC8Te (love this car). Now I want to upgrade the shocks to some threaded alu ones. Any recommendations besides the AE (do the RC8 shocks also fit?)? Are the Team Losi 8ight any good / do they even fit? Maybe some other brands / types I could consider? What are you guys running and do you like them / would you recommend them? Thanks guys! Nard |
The buggy shocks are different lengths than the truggy. Just get the AE Factory Team threaded aluminum shocks, mine came with them as I have a FT nitro w/ RC-M conversion. Raced all summer without a problem. You can find complete sets in the ebay chop shops pretty cheap, I bought a spare set for about $60 shipped

What do you mean by a set, two or four shocks. So far I've been keeping track of some RC8T shocks and they are going for +- $40 per two (so front or rear), that would make a total of $80 and another extra $10 for shipping.
Good to hear that you like them. |
I managed to get all 4 shocks for $60, just be patient and bid

That's sounds like a steal. I keep track of RCBonezz and RC-Parts on eBay. Any other shops I should check on?
I've been keeping track of those two shops since 12 nov for all RC8T pars they are offering. Just checked that average pricing, it's $47.18 for the front and $42.98 for the back. Lowest prices were $33 for the front and $36.59 for the back. Oh well .... I'll just keep on waiting then :) |
I have bought a lot of my parts from rc_dirtslinger however I know that's not where I got the shocks from, can't remember who I got them from on ebay
|
You don't happen to have this eBay address?
When I look at his items he only has some baseball cards, some decals and some bearings :) |
That's the right guy. I bought a lot of stuff from him over the summer but every now and again he wouldn't have anything RC related, give it a week or two and try again

OK thanks, will keep bargain hunting :)

I got some shocks and filled them up with some 50wt. But the mounting is where I'm stuck. The problem is that I can't fully tighten the bolt completely. Why ? The shockcap has two different sizes of holes (see picture). The one with the biggest hole should be pointing away from the shocktower right ? In the bigger hole the bolt is secured, but the problem is that my tool does not fit in that hole, it's just a little bit to big. It fits perfectly in the plastic shockcaps but not in the alu ones. How did you guys do this because this is driving me crazy. I also have the original AE tools but the diameter on the 5,5mm tool is even bigger than my own tool.
