I love your inuendo Harold. Tuperware?? Has to be James.

It looks like fun for about 5 minutes, but not really much you could do with it. Plus did you notice when he shut it down that it nearly fell apart collapsing on the floor? Seriouly what could you really do with it? Unless you set it up track side and clip off otehr vehicles as they drive by. Leaving you to win the race. Outside of that I don't really see the point.

Still pretty cool though. Mount the gun and sighting system on your rc for some high mobility.

More of a show of tech. The same basics could be used for a real gun placed around your house.

Asking the same question, what is the point of your RC toys? I mean really, it doesn't make you a sandwich and it just costs money.

The name of the robot, the title of this thread and the apparent appearance of the guy just freshly pulling it out of that box from a courier threw this thread off a bit.

Thats actually a robot being built by someone by the name of xdream on the trossen robotics forums. It is being built for Mech-Warefare at Robogames 2010 at the end of April next year. Its not a product or hit christmas gadget or anything like that. I think it was a new competition and I didn't catch any of it when I was there this year. Too bad, I might have given some more thought to building one if I did.

The competition is pretty much designed to model MechWarrior but in real life. You build a walking robot that may be controlled remotely by you (or can be autonomous). However, the only vision you have is through first-person on a camera you mount on your robot. Theres two classes, an airsoft class and a hardcore class. In airsoft, you're basically trying to hit your opponent a number of times in specified targets. The more legs you have, the more targets you have to mount on your robot. More details here if you're interested: http://robogames.net/rules/mech-wars.php
