Brushless lawnmower battery question

4 Attachment(s)
hey guys...i recently bought this brushless powered lawnmower...lol...its a 24V solaris brushless motor driven electric powered lawnmower and i accidentally may have shorted out the batteries via having the terminals touch while removing them......but i charged them anyways and powered the lawnmower just fine....anyways, my question to you guys is can i somehow run this mower on lipo batteries?....it currently uses two 12V 20ah lead-acid batteries....i can mow my front and back lawns on a single charge but, depending on which lawn is done last, the mower has an obvious decrease in power towards the end and doesn't mulch and vaccuum as good.....here are some pics...

LMK what you guys think...

those sla's are 20ah, or 20,000mah. you could certainly run lipos but it would take a 4p setup to match the capacity you've already got

Subscribed.. This should be really interesting!

You're gonna need a lot of Turnigy's... or FlightPowers.. or whatever you're using, good luck with the funding!

Hmm, you would need 4 6s 5000mah lipos, wired in parallel to get the same/similar runtime. Some sort of digital display or lvc would be a good idea to monitor the voltage. Or maybe go with the new flat a123 packs. 8s of them would be great, make 2 big 4s packs wire them in series to power the mower, and then parallel them and use a car battery charger to charge them individually. They can handle 5c+ chare, so 20anmps or more would be fine.

They are 4500mah. or 4.5ah. So you would need 4 of them (4s) to get around the 20ah you have right now. that would be 8 of the 2s packs, x2 to get 8s total. 400 bucks.

But 4 good 6s lipos would be at least 300 bucks...

damn...replacement sla's are only $99.......will lipo batteries show an improvement in power?

i doubt it. whatever speed control unit is in that thing is already passing however much current it's going to pass. you have a well thought out system there, and if you just want a little longer run time just get slightly larger sla's. and look around, I bet you can find them for less than $99

man,i dont know a ton about brushless but let me tell you this,if you could ever reverse polarity on that and weeeee, you have a helicopter LOL --josh
