metal gear mesh in a revo

well i finally got my mamba combo for my revo and im super pleased with it!
but when i set my gear mesh. both the spur and pinion are metal.... it seems like its real rough to get rolling from a start by pushing it with my hand.... it also makes a good amount of noise..
i set the mesh by putting a business card between the gears and tightened from there.
it makes like a clicking noise every time the car is slowing down (free wheeling)..

would it be bad to put a little graphite powder on the gears?

i would also somehow like to lube my transmission... all metal gears except for the very last one.. (the gear that the center diff replaces).. can i also put graphite in here?

srry for so many questions but i dont wanna mess anything up.

As far as the noise w/the gears..all metal to metal gears make a lot more noise than plastic to metal. All of my trucks have metal to metal w/no issues and no lube. I am running mod 1 pinions from RCMonster..

The trans can be lubed with red bearing grease, white lithium grease...either will work nicely. Or you could put STP in there and use that. This process is messy and requires you to drill a small hole to insert the lube into and install a rubber plug. I did this on my Revo and it did work...again, it is messy and the oil does leak out unless you seal the trans with something like gasket sealer or black RTV.

In my opinion a business card is too thick, you only need a very small gap, a regular piece of paper that is snuged up should be all you need.
