It was a fun weekend but Mondays sucks! I'm late for work!

MetalMan 12.14.2009 11:52 AM

What is this, a teaser pic?? Looks like some sort of direct drive judging by the motor position and the pieces on either side of the motor. You know we need more pictures!!

V0RT3X 12.14.2009 02:14 PM

Might be a 1717 motor?

bruce750i 12.15.2009 05:13 AM

Your too good Metalman! Bingo Vort3x.

Here is a short video with some still shots mixed in.

It has a 1717 castle 1580kv motor(16t) MMM, AE center diff(52t), stock f/r diffs, Home made f/r drive shafts, both 4s or 6s configs inside the tvp's of a Savage X.

That truck will last about 3mins !! :)

JThiessen 12.15.2009 10:44 AM

Very nice work Bruce! I want to see some better pics of the center diff install.

bruce750i 12.15.2009 11:44 AM

Ha ha I know Speedy, I'll upgrade whatever when in blows out.

Thanks JT!
I've only been a Savy owner for a month. I got a lot of ideas off of RCM. I made this center diff set-up modular for future arrangements. You can release the cross walls from the tvps and slide them up and down in a track. Add different cross walls and spacers for different track(s) width for different center diffs, slipper or an outrunner maybe.

I re-used the old nitro motor and old bent tvp plate for skids / doors.

Thanks for looking.

I would like to thank the wife and kids for giving me the time to work on this build.

I like it! Gets rid of the "gearbox".

_dV 12.16.2009 04:17 AM

Nice design, well done.

I really like the idea of ditching the legacy 'nitro' gearbox. The Flux really is built out parts that were originally designed for nitro Savages. A redesign for electric would be nice for the next iteration of the Savage\Flux and it would be great if something like this was part of it.

The batteries seem to ride a bit high, although in the first pic of them in the vid they are oriented differently and seem lower. 4s vs 6s? Probably not a great deal you do about it? At least with the standard length chassis.

What weight diff fluid are you running or is it locked?

How did you make the f/r drive shafts?

bruce750i 12.16.2009 10:08 AM

Dv yeah I had (2)2s hard case lipos on their sides then (2)3s stacked. The lipo placement was a way around buying the flux trays. Not for sure on the diff fluid it's ether 500k or 10k. Feel likes 500k? For my the drive shafts I wanted to use some cheep hacked up screw driver shafts (chrome looking) but they were to hardened for my cheesy drill bits. I found some ornamental steel unhardened roses around the shop and hacked off the stems then I drilled the cross pins, cut up the same size drill bits as used for the hole for the pins. Slide the pins in, hit shaft with hammer to capture the pin, then ca glued them also.

Turned out great  I like your CD mount idea!

After two days I think snow and salt took it's toll on my pinion! The mesh was loose if anything.

scarletboa 01.23.2010 10:40 PM

is that an rc-monster pinion?

i have an rc-monster pinion and a RR pinion and they are both showing almost as much wear as your pinion......i thought rc-monster and RR made the best ones?
