Got my BL-Buggy finished! Or: Need a Bigger Buggy Body
Hey guys,
just finished my LRP S8 BX BL conversion. Sort of... It is a LRP S8BX 1/8th scale RTR-buggy, converted by somebody else, I just bought it cheap and finished it. Electrics are a MMM V3 with a 2650kV motor, a thundertiger/ace ds1015 steering servo, a SR3100 spektrum receiver and 2x2S hardcase lipos (SLS ZX 5000mAh 33C/60C). Now I got everything in it and strapped down, wanted to put the body on it, but no. The body doesn't fit, because the lipos are to big.:diablo: So my question is: can someone recommend a higher body, so that the lipos would fit under it? Tried to make some pictures of the misery: http://home.arcor.de/tsjmnordgerling/S8/s8oben.jpg http://home.arcor.de/tsjmnordgerling/S8/s8links.jpg http://home.arcor.de/tsjmnordgerling/S8/s8rechts.jpg |

I think there's an E-version of the S8 out called the S8-BXe. It uses the same lipo setup you have so maybe the electric version body was modified to fit the lipos? It would be worth checking into if you already haven't.

I used this one for my conversion...it is for a Mugen, but it may still work

you could try it with a strong hair dryer. put the shell on to the buggy. take the hair dryer to make the plastic soft, where you need it (carefully), then push the shell to the right position, wait until the shell cooled down. like that you have a fitting car shell.
it won't work of course when the batteries are far too high. |
Nice!
Hair dryer worked, sort off... Needed the heat gun put to 600°C but it worked  Smelled funny though  Thank's florianz for the hint with the hair dryer. After "reshaping" the body I went out to empty the last set of LiPos for storing and now the spoiler broke while the car rolled, I guess it's just too cold outside. Car runs great though! Maybe a bigger pinion, but that's it. |
