Brushless-Bike goes 80 km/h
look at that cool stuff, it's an Austrian living in Berlin, he created an electric bike that goes up to 80km/h / 50 mp/h. he's also allowed to drive on the german highways.
http://www.erockit.net/ there's a short film by the bbc about it. florian |

So does mine (downhill), and it is light enough to pick over my head! Batteries and control unit is not mounted in this photo.

cool. I think there's a big potential in such bicycles.
just imagine, going 80 on your bicycle, on the german highway... too cool. He's using nanophoshate batts, I think that makes sense, easier to handle. |
I go between lipo and LiFe, depending on what is charged or what I am doing. Lipo just kills most LiFe on discharge and volume per KWhour though. Maybe these new hobbycity LiFe packs will be closer in energy density.

Its just a shame that in the UK electric bikes are limited to 14mph on the roads, but you can go as fast as you like on private land ( off road ). Not sure how the law applies to proper motor bikes though, vs bicycles...

What about mopeds in the UK?

I like how you control the speed by how fast you pedal.

One day things might change, what with electric power becoming more common place, but at the moment alot of electric bikes and scooters are seen as 'toys', requiring no license or insurance, so the powers that be decided to limit their legal top speed on the roads to reduce the likelihood of accidents. :rules: I wouldnt mind an E-quad myself, or an E-trike even...:rules: |
I was quite surprised that he's actually allowed to ride that thing on the road and highway. the folks at the transport departments aren't that relaxed here in Germany. you can't compare it e.g. with the states or Australia.
nevertheless, he got that licence plate. It's more a motorbike then a bicylce, I guess. that stealth bike looks cool, too. |
