Scratch remover
I have some cd's that have some scratch's . Does anyone know of a good inexpensive scratch remover that really works ?. The scratch's are on my best of IRON MADIEN cd's  .

They're hit and miss. If you know a blockbuster employee or anybody at a video rental place they have "professional" resurfacers that can put life back in a pretty thrashed disc.
If you do buy one it's important it comes with a solution for doing the buffing, otherwise you're just scratching it more. I love my cd's. MP3 was such a frickin' step backwards in sonic clarity. But the sheeple perfer convenience................ |

I have never tried it on a music cd but back in the day I used to borrow my brothers PS1. His daughters always scratched up the games and none of them played so with nothing to lose I buffed them up with Brasso metal polish. I got all of them to work again.
Just a suggestion but not the best option. |
try toothpaste its a very light abrasive cleaner and polish,I've used it before to take out scratches on glass and it works ok............

Put it in the toilet and flush it. I used to use that method for PS2 games.

peanut butter, toothpaste.. i've done them all and had a few come back around.. but i dont use cd's much cept in the car.. otherwise MP3 Player FTW!!

I have a disk doctor? and it works pretty good. I have also taped cds to a board and used the high speed buffer and polishing compound! I got some very trashed disks to work perfectly that way, but I would warn anyone that does not have a ton of automobile polishing experience to stay away from that trick.
http://www.diskdoctor.com.au/ Something like these is what I have. |
I tried the metal polish & toothpaste trick . They work on one of my cd players . But i have'nt tried them yet on the one were they acctually skipped . Thats the one i take to the track . I have to assemble the unit . So i'll try it latter.
I just tried the cd on the player that it skipped on . It still skips but not as bad . . So i will have to stop by the video store . James that machine is a little pricey. |
A lateral thought...
Buy an external hard drive & burn a copy when you need. How you get the files onto the EHD is up to you |
