Mbx5r brushless onroader

Well here it is......I converted my buggy to a onroad weapon,It started life as a Mugen MBX5R buggy with all the cnc and carbon fibre fruit ,I than fabricated a new extended chassis for it so I could fit the new Kyosho GT2 Corvette body.I also fabricated the servo mounts ,motor mount, esc mount and made a custom front toe plate to fit the bumper ,the rear cvd was taken from a Hot Bodies D8T truggy and the front cvd is a standard rear MBX5 cvd.The wheels and tyres are just no brand onroads from the US,The esc is a Monster Mamba V3 and the motor is a Tekin R8 2650kv,It is set-up for 6s lipo with 2 3s 30c 5200mah in series, But have found that this is just way to much power for the wheels to deal with so I have now set it up for 4s (2s 35c 6500mah in series).Ran it today and was very pleased with the top speed and am still able to do controlled drifts with it.Hope to have a vid of it real soon ,just have to find some free time.

Nice work. I am also working on an on road 1/8 converted from an Xray buggy with a similar setup. Have you locked the center diff?

Awsome mate ,so glad I did it,Yeh sort of.Got some 200,000 wt diff fluid in it seems to be holding up ok .Will try the 6s set-up again. The first time I used it on 6s it destroyed the tyres.

I think 2650kv on 6S is asking for trouble.

I had a feeling before you updated your location that you are from Australia. I think I can see part of a mobile number on your bench.

I also did a mbx-5 conversion...I am using 100,000C diff fluid...probably need to go higher. Still not quite done yet...need to fine tune the suspension a bit first.

Looks like you used Revo shocks...are they working well and what oil/spring set up are you using? The shocks are the last area I need to fine tune

your looks sweet...nice job w/the custom work!

Cheers mate...standard Revo GTR shocks the ones with the tini shock shafts

2650kv on 6s is insane ,should be good for around 100mph if I can get the front wheels to stay on the ground..........its not my number ...lol

I think what he means is, the 2650 is only rated to 4s. But, if you want to be a guinea pig I think the rest of us would like to know how long it will last?:mdr:
